This game is intended to be played by casuals.

The sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll realize they're never going to cater to the hardcore raider who tackles Savage Coil.

They aren't going to cut development from casual content to make more hardcore content.

    It's not happening.

Side quest content like the Hildibrand Quests and the Battle on the Highbridge Trail are meant as “light content” is fun(ny) and easy to digest for the entire playerbase. That is something the game will always need to keep the game interesting. Some people simply love the “low difficulty but high entertainment value” content they can do at their own pace, which is exactly what the Hildibrand quests are meant for. (^_^ )

Even End Game Raiders need a break from raiding every once and a while, to wind down and take it easy. (^_~ )

Savage Coil was initially an experiment from SE to see how many people were interested in clearing it and to see IF they could clear it. The feedback they got from that as well as the feedback from players who want an easier Coil (for the story) probably manifested into the “Normal” and “Hard” versions of the upcoming “Alexander” Raid (which will be released in Heavensward).

But, that’s not really the issue here. The main issue is that people feel that they don’t have enough content to keep them busy from in between patches. Not just the End-game Raiders, but also the more casual players.

Whenever a new Patch is released, the content which is introduced in it can completed in 1 day. Even the grinding quests like the Zodiac Brave Quests have been completed by more then a handful of people within the 1st week of it’s release. But, on the other hand, there are still a lot of players who haven’t beaten the SCoB or are still trying to catch up with the Main Story / Side Quests, the first Crystal Tower and the BCoB.

In my personal opinion, what the game needs is more diverse in content in each major patch. I think the Manderville Golden Saucer will keep a lot of people busy for a long time. (^_^ )

We are nearing the end of the 2.x era and with the release of 3.0 we’ll have a lot of new things to do. We’ll get 3 new jobs, the level cap will be raised to 60 on all the current classes, we’ll have a new Main Story Line, Side Quests, Dungeons, 2 new Primals, a new Raid and more. But, it’s not gonna stop there…

The FFXIV team has learned a lot from the 2.x era, which they will use for the development of new content in the patches to come. We can only pray that as the game evolves and the popularity increases, so would the development capacity of the game. Increasing the amount of diverse content they can release in a timely fashion. (^_^ )

So, please Yoshida-san, don’t stop developing new investigations for our friendly (and hilarious) agent of enquiry and inspector extraordinaire, Hildibrand Manderville.

I think Hildebrand might be on the verge of getting stale and maybe we could use a break from him after the next one.

But that's so he can come back and be fresh again later. Certainly don't want him cut.

Say that to the Alexander Normal and hard mode options in which they stated that the hard mode would be more challenging than the current "savage mode" option available for second coil.

They are going through growing pains and learning what works and doesn't work, they've realized simply using echo buff and weakening the mechanics takes away from the first time experience of coil and are working to make an experience in which the hardcore can have that challenge while casual can enjoy the story. So it's a bit unfair to state how it isn't going to happen when they have made plans to make sure that the next raid will be a challenge to the hardcore.

I might be mistaken (so please correct me if i’m wrong), but didn’t Yoshi-p say that “Normal” would be slightly easier than the current Coil and that “Hard” would be in between the current Coil and Savage Mode?

Okay, they can stop development on Hildibrant on the condition that normal coil and all future "difficult" content is retuned for casual content.

I'm serious. I've been yelled at enough times by people misunderstanding me by them telling me "only 20% of players do coil, so if you want that then only those 20% will play and the game would die" (Hint: People can't read that I don't do endgame.). So why cater to only the smaller portion?

The fact that you think Savage Coil is how the set of Coils were originally designed makes you post null. It makes sense that you have yet to beat any of them. It's plainly obvious that the redeveloped the mechanics based on strats that were being used in the normal Coils by the player base and all of Savage SCoB is intended for i110 gear including one fight that requires i90 jewelry with VIT.

On another note, while a mass majority of the player base will want Hildebrand due to the fact that they won't attempt Savage Coil, the amount of time it takes to complete each is reasonably different as well. While in takes maybe an hour or a little longer to complete the Hildebrand quest, it takes a lot more time to figure out new mechanics in Savage Coil. The amount of time the content lasts until it's completed is vastly in favor of Savage Coil.

actually savage coil IS how coil was originally designed, it was then toned down from that
to what we play as the regular content

Kind of an "it sounded good on paper, but now we'll have to tweak it in practice"
