If we were to compare two non-crafted, weighted sets with DPS accessories, one which meets the 390 GDC baseline, vs that doesn't bother, we'd have these two gear sets:

    CRT:508
    DET: 325
    SS: 383

    vs

    CRT: 463
    DET: 340
    SS: 398

    Which makes the results:

    Set 1) 365.1 DPS
    Set 2) 371.1 DPS

Picking a 390+ SS spec is 6 DPS higher than a pure DET/CRT set.

These values are calculated with Food, under Defiance, with Party Buffs @ i135 gear, doing a maximum DPS rotation, so I do not expect anyone to reach these numbers.

You're trading 100 Crit for 15 Det and 15 SS. Where did the other stats go? Parry?

Oh bollocks I'm an idiot. I noticed I copied the wrong stats over to my Models .-.

    It's actually

    CRT:508
    DET: 325
    SS: 383

    vs

    CRT: 463
    DET: 340
    SS: 398

    Which makes the results:

    Set 1) 365.1 DPS
    Set 2) 371.1 DPS

    So it's a 6 DPS increase picking a 390 SS set over a CRT/DET set.

And there's virtually 0 parry on both sets and does not take into consideration HP. Both have the highest weighting in terms of DPS. It's honestly hard for me to gauge how to create sets as I haven't a clue about the HP/Def/M.Def requirements for tanks (I've just not been reading up on it), so I measure everything in regards to DPS.

Here are the two sets btw:

If you have two different sets you'd want me to compare, post them and I'll give you the results. I'm still learning about the differences in Tank Gearing (DPS vs Parry) so I do apologise in advance if anything seems a bit funky.

I can't contribute much to the conversation, but yes the HP should be considered. I've heard from a tank that's cleared t13 several times now that you only need like 8100 HP for FCoB. Just what I heard >.<

HP Floor for PLDs (assuming T13 MT) should be 9k, WAR's should be 10k 2/food (in Defiance, party buff not included) mDEF/pDEF are irrelevant because it all comes from left side which will be the same regardless of itemization (ironworks vs dread).

MT PLD would reasonably need 9k... 8100 is going to be running ridiculously thin the whole time. HC farming groups pushing stuff for fun would probably be in the what...8400-8600 range?

I'm not disputing any requirement. He's been trying to gear us up to be more "dps spec" type tanks, and just from our general conversations that's what he said. (maybe it was 8400ish, which is about what he rolls with as PLD MT without food/party buff)

When the i110 accessories come out, the VIT deficit from stacking SS for going more DPS based will be irrelevant tbh. Max out Vit, get 390-400 SS, stack rest into DET/CRT, and tanks can still have 9-10k+ HP.

All good, man, just relaying what I know. 8400 out of party with no food rolling is exactly where he should be if he is trying to do DPS and stay relatively sane : D
