Turn 12 Tank DPS

I am having a hard time with pushing my dps hard in T12, specifically the first 2 phases. I start out as OT, so I open with Fracture on Phoenix. I do not use Unchained + Berserk until after I Provoke. Before I provoke I land an IB, take off Defiance, land an SE combo + Fracture, then I turn on Defiance, and do a BB combo on the Provoke.

Here, I prime SE and do Unchained + Berserk, and that whole combo.

Ideally, after being healed from Revelation, I remove Defiance and tank that way until the tank swap.

After that Bennu, I remove Defiance and land an SE combo + Fracture before doing tank swap with Defiance back on. Shortly after I do another Unchained + Berserk combo.

TL; DR:
-i116, HA Battleaxe, low skill speed, all Vit accessories, 30 Str spec
-I use the Unchained + Berserk combo twice before add phase.
-I try to remove Defiance while tanking during easier times.
-I probably spend more time tanking despite starting as OT.

I had to remove large chunks of the post due to the ridiculous character limit, if it doesn't make sense in parts.

We pushed 4 Bennus last night, but I want to help make it more consistent. My best so far I've seen was a pitiful 202. Compared to 303 from T10, which is a drastic difference.

You can edit posts to bypass character limit.

Your DPS doesn't seem that low, for your gear level. The most consistent way to increase your DPS would be swapping to STR or Crafted accessories.

You may be tank swapping too soon, but whether that's a hit to the total raid DPS depends on how much the MT can do, as opposed to you. If you do opt to tank swap later, you can Berserk outside of Defiance, and then Unchained during/after you swap.

You have way too much VIT. T12 has a very low eHP check. I use 4/5 i90 accessories and 1 i120 slaying. 30/30 STR. I could easily drop more VIT.

The most important thing for t12 is pushing 3-4 bennus.

I'll swap out my Noct ring for Ironworks Ring of Slaying tonight. I did that first night in, before knowing when Revelation was coming exactly. I died a few times to it and group asked me to go all Vit again.

I am wondering something now to try: Berserk before my first IB (20-25 seconds into fight maybe, maybe 30). Then remove Defiance after IB still and carry out Berserk that way.

Then I can use Unchained after tank swap.

Benefit: Berserk 3x before Phase 3 instead of 2.

Con: Berserk isn't matched with Unchained. No IB for my first Revelation. Still have Vengeance though

So... I stopped micro-examining my rotation after I started to consistently hit 250 DPS with 2 i90 crafteds on and we started farming...buuuut.

I do HS > Maim > HS on pheonix. then brutal > SkSu > BB > HS > Maim on Bennu, Provoke > SE > Unchained > Berserk > Heavy > IR > SkSu > Brutal > BB > Heavy > Maim > SE > IB > Infur > IB > Frac > Paci'ed. Drop defiance until ??? then put it back on, build 4 wrath, then I will Veng > IB > Revaltion > Thrill (if I feel like I need it), drop defiance and use Bloodbath while still riding Veng/Thrill. We have been messing with me taking two revelations in a row to allow PLD to SwOa for longer (using holmgang and IB>Infur>IB to recover).

HOWEVER, I will say this: we had the best results with me playing it safe (always in defiance when tanking anything, always out of defiance when not tanking, IB + 1 CD for every Rev, 2 weak CDs each for my 2 bennus) with 2 crafteds I do about 240-260 dps, but the SCH does an extra 90-100 by me playing it safe. So instead of me doing 280+, I effectively do anywhere between 330-360 by allowing the SCH to spend lustrates on normal healing and using his GCDs to DPS.

As already stated, it's very safe to trade some VIT for STR.

My group for T12 actually has the WAR start off tanking. As you seem to already do, he starts off Unchained and goes nuts. Your PLD co-tank can actually handle that first Bennu in Sword Oath and just pop Sentinel to plow through it. While this probably isn't a direct affect on your own damage, it'll help add more to your two combined and make those 4 bennus more consistent. I'm pretty sure it'll give you more uptime on the boss himself as well.

Another tip: our unspoken rule for tank swaps is he as WAR takes it from me pretty much right after Revelations. I, as PLD, take it from him about 15 seconds before the next bennu is about to pop and hammer away in Sword Oath until then. Personally I think your damage isn't bad at all. Those tweaks can help your raid damage go up a little though and accomplish your goal.

EDIT: read more carefully and noticed you tank out of Defiance on certain parts. Is your SCH able to DPS through pretty much this entire phase?

I don't get to switch out of Defiance every time, only when I feel safe. If they're struggling to keep me high health I'll just leave Defiance on. Not sure what causes the differences.

Scholar solos the Blackfires with Bane and often gets up to 290s. I don't know if that's just due to wiping after he spikes or not.

Our way to do, i' m pullin because it allows me to start with S.E burst opener.
Then, we swap after my co-pally killed his blackfire which i help with.
We got the 2nd bird n 2nd blackfire, then we swap again.
At this point we reachin phase change n i got the boss on me with burst up. I land a BB combo after phase change, then start burstin to be able to time Inner beast for rev which comes right now after evry 2 redfire, first tries i was burstin asap at phase change n get pacificated durin rev which is not a good bet ah ha!
We swap with co-pally after rev at pacification, deal with 4th bird, rev, n swap after this one, at this point we re still reachin 5th bennu so i got time for an other burst rotation.
I keep safely defiance on all the time, only moment i drop it is after 2nd/4th bird till blackfire/rev n swap. Rev under vengeance, thrill, inner beast, n awareness because of hypothetic crit hit comin right after, could make us havin a hard time.
Just our way to deal with first 2 phases, hope it can help.
Also dependin of overall dps, phases will be totally different, read earlier 3 bennus ?? really man ah ha u guyz are beast.
