I wouldn't mind a few additional seconds on Greased Lightning during like Ifrit, but I'll be the first to admit that I absolutely suck at MNK anyways. My favorite job, but I'm more beneficial on WAR or WHM. :/
Obvious troll thread is obvious. We need buffs like WHM needs buffs...they don't.

Mantra is useful for any situation where extra healing would be helpful. Dragon Kick doesn't get much use outside FCOB unless your group is undergeared. Meanwhile it's VERY important in FCOB and in situations where your group is undergeared.
In other words, just like many, many other skills, it's only as useful as the situation requires.

Though I should say, rereading your posts, there's a reason MNK isn't popping out huge numbers: because we do damage over time rather than burst damage. It's not about the big numbers, it's about the total numbers.
If you want to see big numbers one after another, MNK is not the job for you.

Seems like OP fail to grasp the very basic idea of how being a Mnk. MNK is a SUSTAINABLE dps, not a Bursty one. In any SHORT fight, Mnk will come short. In exchange for that, MNK will ALWAYS come out TOP if plays right in any fight last over 3 mins.
Want big number in short time???Go Dragoon. Want sustainable DPS and highest in a long run???Go Mnk. Simple as that!!!

I came on here to see if this post was a joke or not but. Wow. Seriously?
Monk is perfect the way it is. If you have anything to complain about on monk, then play something easier.

the mnk in my raid group, is almost always 50-100dps ahead of me, when i'm nin. we're both ilv 120-125.
then again, i'm hardly ever using food/pots, he is; but even with that, i wouldn't ever get anywhere near his dps.
