There is always a way around to explain the stats, the Roedagyn has more points in Str but the Lalafell has more points in Dex but in the end they both hit the same. The Roedagyn is a brute force hit while the Lalafell is a more accurate hit but they result in similar dmg.

As long as the difference in points only matters for the first 20 lvls then is fixed after that when both char's hit cap they will do similar dmg.

    Exactly.

And from a gameplay standpoint, there are plenty of people (like me) who want to play as a physical attacker Lalafell, just like there are people who want to be a spell-casting Roegadyn.

dwarves are visibly muscular and sturdy in appearance, lalafels are not. That argument does not work for this. Dwarves are like bulldogs, small but completely muscle. lalas are childlike and not strong looking at all. i'd rather take a lala greataxe to the head then a roe one. i dont think the difference in racial stats needs to be so profound that they make races unable to be certain classes, but i think a small edge should be given to each class in some category/s to add flavor to them. This game has a problem with blandness it needs flavor in more areas then one.

Except the Roegadyn would miss your head and take off an arm instead. ^_^

Not that it's mentioned anywhere that a roegadyn is an almighty power creature...but,

Wouldn't a lalafell be like "I'd rather fight a mid-size hyur than one of those roegadyn's!"?
go play Uldah's story line and see two lalafel beat out/throw out couple of big size people.

Either way, you would probably die from it

This. When I'm choosing race I'm going for looks, I don't want to have my applicable classes/jobs cut out for me from the beginning just because I chose the wrong race. Sure you could likely override them with the manually set stats but at that point, why even have the drastic racial stat differences? Why not just let people set their stats the way they want?

Why, so that we can hear the word Gimp every other forum posting? How would restricting play styles add "flavor" to the game? It certainly wouldn't attract more players, especially when the number of successful MMOs that don't include restrictions based on size are numberous.

There is no need for this. Final Fantasy has had more than its fair share of odd fighters.

& that shouldn't be impossible because of choiced character leveling progression.

but a level 1 lalafell should naturally fit into the role of a mage better than a roegadyn would.

I'd imagine a roegadyn that is supposedly naturally stronger would knock your lights out waaay faster than a lalafell ever could.
