34. PSN is Down, Thanks SE!: One day, our good friends, the DDoS asshats, decided that kids needed to cry on Christmas, and DDoSed the services of PSN and XBL. While only people with poor tastes in games were affected by the XBL outage, many people that did have a good choice in games became lipid. "Fix the servers!" they demanded of SE, "you need to make sure your game is working!" Other inputs were given as well, such as to remove the PSN requirement that SE had gotten as mandated by Sony in exchange for not requiring PSN+ membership. Many players quit the game at this point, causing Sony to give yet another apology, but SE had to take the servers offline because the game was no longer profitable.

Work on the Tumblr is still happening. Still slow going. But it'll be done soon!

Today, we take a hop over to the drama regarding the addition of jumping!

So why is the op still playing?

Clearly they have little love for the game, maybe that is because they spend more time scouring the net trying to find what's wrong with it instead of just playing it.

If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to play. Sure there is bad stuff but there is a lot of good too. Why not compile a mile long list of the good stuff too, that would at least make you more valid. But starting basically an "Ihateffxiv" thread here and on tumblr really does little for your credibility.

...I will soon be starting a companion thread, "The Many Lives of Final Fantasy XIV." That thread will have a more serious tone to it than this, as we thank SE for changes that we got or good decisions.

Haha, when I think about how things were handled back then, like the weekly xp limit (or something, I'm starting to forget how it was)... People demanding fatigue meter for jumping back then claiming that it would strengthen the realism - might as well have asked SE to add fatigue meter to running and walking as well. ~_~

I have to say, I started playing at 1.0. Yes I did quit, and yes, it did hit a point where the game was not profitable, so Square-Enix did something about it. Yes, to a certain extent, we can say FFXIV "Died" ONCE. Since then, without being a white knight, a lot of changes have come through, and I have felt exactly the same as you on this whole thread. I can't express how glad I am that you have put the workinto this compilation of pure satisfaction.

Also, I think the trollish white-knights are hilarious. Easily identified by the fact that they don't understand what you are posting, but still feel the need to tell you you're wrong anyway.

Also, I loved the blown-up RANT, INFORMATIVE, SATIRE.

Thanks! It's fun researching events I wasn't around for, and every time some gets upset about a minor thing, you know lots of people think what I post here.

Some of my favorite replies are the people who take me seriously. My favorite was the guy who tried to tell me that the servers weren't taken offline between 1.0 and 2.0. There was another one I loved right below it, but it was kinda nasty and someone reported it I guess.
