There may be a limit to gil transfer, but there's no limit on the item on your pocket. You can buy some allagan gold pieces, put it into your retainer, then sell it to the npc of the server you want to be on. Or you can buy lots of clusters and sell it on the marketboard of the server you want to be on. These items always sell.
And also 6mil is not that big. You can give your retainers 1mil gil each and they will be able to carry it to your new server.

I "could" do that but the biggest reason I don't want to is I have made a lot of friends on Balmung, built a community, and I would have to transfer at least my immediate family (Myself, Wife and Three son's accounts totalling about $100) just so at least we can stay together, all so I could get a house. I saw this coming when they announced how personal housing was being done. This is the worst way to have introduced personal housing. I'm so disappointed that I will never own a house in this game, it was one of the features I was looking forward to the most out of everything they said was coming. I just hope the Manderville Golden Saucer and the card game isnt as big of a let down. I think it will be ok though.

You can -make- gil if you are smart about it. I had 8 million gil on Excalibur before Balmung, I did some research and it turned out that some of the primal drops were quite a bit more expensive on Balmung. I bought those and resold them, ended up with 12 million gil after it was all sold.

What good would 50mil gil do if there are no available plots?

not sure why you quoted me to say that. my comment had little to do with Personal Housing. i think it's too late for them to walk back Personal Housing at this point.

Sorry, i was quoting you to point out that it still doesnt really solve the problem with availability, not in the long run. I think they have to revisit personal housing, it should never have been implemented this way, its not personal at all. It creates extra stress on servers they are already saying are pressed to the max. Don;t get me wrong, the things they talked about, making transfers easier, are a good thing and might help out but then there are still many more flaws with the system to the point that people are being barred from content for no other fault then they didnt buy a plot fast enough when the servers are up. I've gone over most of them in this thread earlier but I can elaborate if you like.
