Just relax no need to get all bunched up. Thats why I said possible 90 minutes.Nice reading skills you got there ^_^
I said it makes sence, it's the least effort route most people end up with, for being efficient and/or not doing something which seems not worth it for them, for not having a reward out of it.
I ALWAYS SAY HELLO. I always talk. 90% of the players don't even say hello.
Also, lol if you spend 90 min in a duty finder, low level to exp roulette, it takes 30 min to clear a run on average, sometimes less.
Compared to ffxi the social aspect is non existent, firstly the gcd creates a need to have your finger on the trigger all the time which creates a you talk = less dps.
secondly the fact this game is so soloable there is no need to talk and ask for help
thirdly the leveling process is plain and simple, each run is either 10-40mins and from that if you find people that you get on with, you can't run another dungeon run with them as they are from different servers
I remember on ffxi i could easily talk, pl and tank on another character all at the same time but with this game its not possible unless omfglowerdps or the drg dies

It's so cold here that I'm just wrapped in layers of blankets, doing extra movements in the keyboard is too much! fingers hurt so much that I avoid typing as much as I can, even though I wanna say hi :d

The duality of man.
I remember a thread about solo dungeons. Everyone jumped all over it saying this is an MMO its about playing together and socializing. Yet the majority seems to not want to socialize with anyone. Where do we go now?
Talking about etiquette, what annoys me more are french players who say "Salut" or "Bonjour". It just looks like they are greeting only the french players in party which is rude. Or they assume that everyone speaks their language which is arrogant. I've never seen germans do that, seems to be a french only thing. I mean, they could just say a neutral hi/hello or use autotranslate. Not just ingame, I've noticed that french often outright refuse to speak english, even if they are able to.

It's not the grind that makes people zombies, it's that you'll never see any of the people you're running with probably EVER again.
I always try to say something at least mildly entertaining at the start or the end of the dungeon, depending on what dungeon it is, usually gets a lol or 2.

You know you're running with zombies when after a wipe nobody says anything, but it's better than raging!
Talking is fun in a dungeon, but you're right - most people don't. I'll enter a dungeon and say hello. If I'm new to it (or haven't done it in a while) or new on a particular role, i'll say that as well (because there are plenty of runs that I haven't tanked or healed yet). At the end, i'll say thanks and bow. If the group was good I'll say so. If the group sucked I'll keep it to myself. If someone starts to make conversation during the dungeon, i'll try to keep up and reply, but since I play with a controller I can't really type and fight or run at the same time.
And, of course, sometimes things happen in dungeons that merit comments, like silly mistakes on easy bosses that cause a wipe. Hopefully that will get a laugh and not a rage quit/kick...

And that keeps you from saying hello during the loading screen and thanks or goodbye once the instance ends? Personally, the only thing that keeps me sane during the relic grind (working on my second Zodiac weapon now) is talking to my fellow players. When I greet the party, usually I get at least 1-2 replies, which is nice. Sometimes I get none which leaves me feeling sort of awkward. I'm in Mumble for the majority of the time talking with people in my static/FC, but there's still something nice about chatting a little bit with the people I'm with. Yeah, we're probably from different servers but I wouldn't know that unless I asked. I always greet the party at the beginning of the dungeon and say thanks at the end at the very least. If people seem inclined to talk in between, I'm more than happy to chat. You never know, you may run into those people again in DF (it's happened to me before).
This is profoundly sad to me.I've been playing this game since release and so far ran probably over 1000 runs in df. Long ago I used to say hello, bye and other things to keep up a conversation. But you know, after 1000 runs I just don't bother anymore. I don't even look at their names. To me they are just NPCs, not real players. There is no real interaction or teamwork required in dungeons. The tanks pull mobs, healers heal, dps burn stuff. Everyone knows the dungeon and how to do their job. It's just the way the game is designed.

And Americans refuse to speak French when they visit France.Talking about etiquette, what annoys me more are french players who say "Salut" or "Bonjour".
I've seen german, italian & spanish people greet or talk in their language in dungeons. And I didn't make a fuss of it.
You assume wrong if you think french people think everyone speak their language, since in fact most people don't learn it or give up since "French too hard to learn Q_Q".
You also assume wrong if you think they "outright refuse to talk in English". They're just bad at English that's all. I know a lot of them so bad they can't form simple sentences without Google Translate lol.
They do the same in LoL since there are no dedicated french servers yet the client is in French there as well. Most french people are bad at English, and the English taught in school is pretty weak as well.
To them, talking in French is also a way to send a signal to other french people. Or they're just too lazy to try speaking in English. Or just too bad at it. There are a lot of specific language FCs in the game. Maybe it's a way for them to get noticed by their fellow countrymen and be recruited in those.
It seems stupid to provide a localized client if you're not gonna provide language specific servers to be honest.
I only have the [E]nglish language in my Duty Finder settings and have seen maybe 1% of my runs with french people openly greeting in French, and most often they were also greeting in English in the same sentence. Unless you selected the [F] option as well, you should not see many french people. If you do see them, that mean they wanted a quicker queue and went the lazy way (since they are unable to communicate in that language, play on PlayStation and have no keyboard and don't talk at all, or don't use the auto translate feature)
Akin to people going in duty finder with zero knowledge of the mechanics and being severely undergeared lol. Lazy people are lazy, they wanna be carried or make no effort, it's not bound to one specific language. Stereotypes are always going strong, but be careful cause you can slip to racism if you're not careful (and it's a bannable offense)
