I thought the alleged issue was that perception makes the fish bigger and as such requires even higher gathering to reel them in, meaning that having perception much higher than gathering would more or less guarantee that you never catch anything. Well, I don't claim to actually know anything about it, but it would seem that something very wrong is happening with your FSH or you're a statistical anomaly.

That makes no sense. It works like this.

Each fish has two stats to it. The amount gathering needed in order to catch and the amount of perception needed to catch it in HQ. This can be seen in the Mahar, you need roughly 3230 perception in order to HQ it, otherwise you'll only catch NQ whch can't be mooched for Shoni.

That is all there is to it. Everything else are just theories that people make up in their head and then warp their findings around it.

This is just lovely, LOVELY... so I decided to listen to peoples advice... dumped my forager's hat and my forager's boots, 391 gathering and 186 perception. Cornelia bites 5 more times, the fish gets away 5 times. What now? What the hell am I freaking supposed to do? Dance the manderville naked? I haven't seen a single person reporting problems with this stupid craptastic fish, I dread to imagine how much time I'm going to have to spend with stuff such as the matriarch from which I constantly hear horror stories.

All I can say is just keep at it, Cornelia took me 7 or 8 tries as well, you'll get it eventually. I understand the rage just work with it. Sometimes you'll get to a hole and it'll take you 15 minutes sometimes it'll take days. Took me a long long long time to get Kuno but I got Shoni my 2nd or 3rd time fishing the window.

Actually...it could be a lucky strike, but I'm noticing a huge difference. Got Cornelia on my 6th try (meh)...then went to bloodbath and got it on my first try...and then went to the drowned sniper and got it on my second try. I went from 313 perception to around 220 (took off my forager's hat), and suddenly it feels easier, as I said, might be coincidence though.

Nah it's Christmas. Increased fish in the pools.
