    Idea for Dark Matter

    I think it would be helpful if the higher grade dark matter could be used to repair lower level equipment. For example a grade 5 dark matter could be used to repair gear from level 1 to 50, and a grade 3 dark matter could be used to repair gear level 1 to 30.

    This would be very nice for any high level gatherer who would prefer to only take up one inventory space instead of as many as 5, or anyone who happened to run out of a lower grade dark matter out in the field but just so happens to have some higher grade dark matter with them.

    I disagree, I think the lower grade dark matter still has a use. I would just like the option of using a grade 5 dark matter on a lvl 20 item if I so choose.

    I'm going to have to agree with Killerbomb. the only diffrence from your idea and what killerbomb said is that your idea would have useless lowgrade dark matter, everyone would just use the high level dark matter. I think its perfect the way it is.

    I'll echo the sentiment that it would be pointless to have any grades of dark-matter if the highest tier could fix everything anyways.

    It's not like it's harder or much more expensive to aquire anyways.

    Only reason to keep lower grade stuff is if there was a skill-cap put on what grade of dark-matter you could use. Rank1-10 can only use grade 1 to fix stuff, Grade 11-20 can use Grade 2, ext. But overall I think it would be needlessly complecated that way.

    It's perfectly find the way it is, if you really can't spare those 5 item slots I don't know what to yell you.

    You might say that 4.5k (grade 5) is a drop in a bucket in terms of the gil we have. However, overtime the cost piles up. Think of it as as a maintenance fee. I currently have 12 equipment items on usually for each of my classes, which needs repairing almost every other day. Would you rather pay 51000gil (4500 x 12) every other day, or 18000 (1500 x 12)?

    For those people that are r50, the income they are getting in is enough to support the cost of repairs, but for someone that is r20 or even worst case scenario starting out new in the game, paying 51k to repair all their crap is detrimental.

    I don't mind if the Dark Matter of higher ranks support lower ranks as well. If the people want to waste their gil and be less efficient with their gil, then let them do so. However, from other people's reply making only 1 Dark Matter with only 1 set price would screw all the lower players over, and only serves to cut prices for higher ranked players.

    none of the friends who I know wants it (or need it).

    With how cheap a lot of people tend to be regarding repairs, the lower grade dark matter would still be heavily used.

    My idea mainly comes from a high level gatherer's perspective, and the fact that grade 5 dark matter can only be gathered from grade 5 nodes. I certainly am not going to go mine grade 1-4 nodes just to get dark matter, nor would I buy grade 5 dark matter to use for a low level repair since I would be able to buy the lower level dark matter from the same npc.
