Level restriction would do nothing. You can get to level 10 extremely quickly if you know what you're doing. If you're hardcore you could even get to 50 in one day (I've seen it done).

Most annoying ones are the gil sellers who first befriend you and you can't block them unless you delete their friend request first.
That one's just on you. Stop accepting friend requests from people you don't know.

Honestly, I just want a privacy setting that will block tells and friend requests from anyone not already on my friend's list or that I personally initiated.

When the gil seller sends a friend request along with a tell, you cant insta blacklist them until you go into the menu and deny the friend request.

Ah, my bad. Misread his post. You're right. Morning coffee hasn't kicked in yet. Yeah, that is annoying.

Create a report gold spam option. Make it so that if they get 10 players reporting them their IP gets blocked for a week. If their account has already been blocked for a week, ban their IP.

Seems simple enough... Though this COULD lead to griefing. I mean, if I REALLY don't like someone, I'll bet I could get 10 or more people to report them for gilspamming. 100 reports is still nothing, since they advertise to everyone that comes up in a /search, but it makes it a LOT harder to grief with.

It's not too hard to nail down the gil-mules, either. Yeah, they're any class, any level, with regular names, but I'll bet they carry even amounts (Large sums...)of gil. Even if that's not a good indicator, I'm willing to bet they only log in for minutes at a time per day once they hit whatever level they decide they need to be. All of this can be tracked. It's called profiling, and it's not necessarily a bad thing!

The trick comes in how you punish these folks... Let's say you get identified as a gil-mule. GM's send you an email stating that you've been identified as a potential gil-mule. If you transfer more than 50% of your money to another account within 10 days, both accounts will be banned. If you transfer less than 50% of your money to another account within 10 days, only your account will be banned, but the other account will be flagged as suspicious and the process repeated. If you log in for less than 5 hours in the next 10 day period, your account will be banned. If you log in for more than 5 hours during the 10 day period, a GM will contact you to conduct an inquest to determine your intentions, after which it is GM discretion to ban you or not. Regardless, your account will be monitored closely for an indeterminate period of time.

This gives innocent parties a way out. If they get this message in their mail at some point, they have the choice to log in and proceed with the interview, or they can just ignore it and let the account get banned, since they don't seem to play often anyway. Most people who are innocent won't even get flagged in this system since they'll either log on more often than someone who's a gil-mule, or they'll have stopped playing altogether and have zero hours logged over a few weeks or months. All of this can, and should be, tracked.

How do you avoid getting flagged as a gil-mule? Play the game. Spend your money on things in-game (Housing, crafting, etc...). Participate in raiding. Do a roulette a few times a week. Just play like a normal person. Suspicious behavior is just that. Someone with a maxed Zodiac weapon with 5 play hours a week and 100 million gil probably isn't a gil-mule. They're probably just bored for now...

im from phoenix, and i rarelly see any rtm tell, usualy i get 1 or 2 per week, likely all depends on the server whay to act player base, whit such low rtm issue on the server i am, it means what few people actually buys gil, so if you get like 15 per day, it means what a lot of people actually are buying gil, giving them reasons to spam like crazy
