@Aerolol: Sony and SE aren't pretending nothing is happening. o.O SE has a lodestone msg up about the PSN downtime and that's all SE can do because the problem isn't even with their servers. Sony has released MULTIPLE statements to the media acknowledging the problem and also they've sent out a few twitter messages. I think your anger is very displaced. There really isn't much Sony and other companies can do in the event of a DDOS attack. The solution would be for them to invest and bigger, larger, better servers that can handle more traffic than they usually receive. Unfortunately, this solution is expensive and all the costs from it would be passed on to the consumer. DDOS attacks aren't nearly frequent enough to force companies to go this route anyway. Would consumers like to pay higher subscription fees to fund better servers for Sony, XBox etc?
