While I see the point of the teleportation system I do not like the idea of making it available even more. The world of Eorzea is small as it is. With this system being implemented right from the start it just becomes smaller and takes some fun out of the whole idea of adventuring. Back in FFXI it took me a long time before I finally reached all three nations and with only chocobos, airships and the teleport spells available at the time the world felt uge even if I only saw a small fracture of all the areas that existed back then. In FFXIV it took me two days to see all of the three nations.

I see the teleportation system in FFXIV as a possibility for casual players to get around faster in order to get some stuff done within a small timeframe. For them the anima available should be sufficient. All other players who have the chance to play more will soon have the option to travel on birds and by air. Therefore, I would rather see more restrictions on the teleportation system instead of making it more available. But that is just my opinion.

Agreed, even as a casual, i prefer restrictions on Anima system, infact i prefer it removed all together and have other means of transportation in it's place because it's literally killing the fun and adventure in the game. As you said, only takes 2 days to see whole of Eorzea due to the nature of Easy access for all Anima system since the start, and being able to tele from anywhere at anytime Makes no sense and kills the thrill.
Where is that sense of adventure of goin through the lands, either running or through chocobos or airships, discovering new places with excitement and feel you have much more to discover still. Sense of accomplishment and adventure, dead here in FFXIV and i blame both Anima and design of world.

It's good to know they have plans for re-designing the world, and that should hopefully move things in right direction, but Anima may still be an issue until it's addressed. Hopefully with the redesign, there wont be a crucial need for anima as is the case now, then people can let go of it and we can hope for a better adventure without transportation frustrations.

This has nothing to do with XI. The point i'm making is clear and i'll clarify it again. Anima system does not make sense in terms of story, lore or gameplay. Since when have you played any FF that just gives you the option from the very start to tele out of nowhere through some random anima points generated. This is unheard of.
Your concern is your casual play convenience, and as i mentioned before, im a casual player myself, I'm not up for making the game more tedious or harder for casuals or non casuals. Infact, i dont think its wise at all to remove Anima system in the current state the game is in. I'm saying, once transportation is abundant and it's easy enough to travel through other means without consuming too much time, then rework the whole tele system. My idea is long-term not right now. We're in a mess now, huge zones and no other forms of transportation. so i guess enjoy your Anima for now.

As a former FFXI player i agree the anima system is great and all but i would much rather have chocobos and give it up all together the anima system is nice and all and when there are chocobos and airships from city to city there wont be much a need for it at all but atm its just another of the 100 frustrations we have to deal with in 14

I know this thread is a tad old, but as a returning player and a semi-casual player, I had to weigh in on a problem that has existed in FF XIV and persists even now.

I think players should be able to teleport more often.

Yes, I know we have Chocobos and airships now. However, players under lvl 25 have to rent Chocobos. For a newbie, 800 gil for 10 minutes (especially considering you lose the Chocobo if you dismount, and you have to dismount to do anything - even just talk to a quest NPC) is a tad pricey - especially considering all the travel this game requires you to do for quests and guildleves. On top of that, the rental Chocobos are slow. I sometimes wonder if running on foot is just as fast. I know that owned Chocobos are a little faster, but still not as fast as I'd like them to be. The airships are disproportionately more expensive, and are limited to town-to-town travel.

The problem lies in that there are too many destinations to which there are no methods of fast travel other than teleporting. At the beginning of this post, I said I was a casual gamer - I have a full-time job with family responsibilities. When I get to play, I don't have time to spend 20 minutes running to a camp, then another five minutes running to where the actual action is, only to have to run 20 minutes back to town after my leves are done. The short of it is I need to be able to teleport more in able to get what I want done, and the current rate of anima regeneration is painfully slow (I've teleported no more than two times daily for four days in a row since I ran out of anima and it is still not above 20).

Honestly, I don't really care how it's done - make the maps smaller, make Chocobos faster, allow lower level players to purchase Chocobos, increase anima regeneration, decrease teleportation costs, let anima reset every week - whatever. Just make traveling less of a hassle, please. The current model wastes a lot of time.
