At times I wonder, what the heck is the difference between adding subdivisions and adding more wards?
At times I wonder, what the heck is the difference between adding subdivisions and adding more wards?

Sometimes, I wonder if it was easier in some way (coding, server, other stuff I don't know much about) to append the subdivisions to the wards rather than attaching them to the cities and zones like the wards are. I was surprised it was done this way since each ward has lots of blocked off areas that seem ready made for expansion. :/

While you have some valid points, I don't think this is a good one. Even in the regular residential areas, unless your house happens to be really near the ferry/exit you're not gonna walk there. You're gonna take an Aetherite, and then walk from there. That fact doesn't change when you're in a subdivision.
i have to agree. The subdivisions should have the same exact benefits as the 'main' wards.
To be honest though, there are a lot of little things that really make me wonder the point of a house though:
- In an Inn room: When you logged out in an Inn room, you log back in the inn room. With a house, you wake up on your porch?
- In an Inn room: you have access to the cut scenes but cannot get the same furniture piece for a house, seriously?
- Realy should have some home storage. I know about retainers and ect, but seriously for 5mil+ you should get some storage, cant even leave a potion on my table wtf?
- only 1440 houses total (60 plots per 8 wards per 3 nations) for a game that boasts 2.5 mil accounts.... wtf?
- of those 1440 houses, its for both companies and people when they were supposed to be separate.
- cannot give 'keys' to friends so they can enter without having everyone in the game enter? at least use those FL Groups to give some perms
- garden & other plot limitations: seriously this is stupid. if i have 20 slots of exterior space, only 1 garden doesn't make sense. this is just a stupid limitation
- Houses are so small for the price, when your looking at a multimillion market, a decent two bedroom 2 bath 1 living room/kitchen/den is pretty standard, not these little 2 room whatever.
- Furniture which cannot be removed. This is just pointless gil sink crap.
- and the coup de grace: if you dont visit it every 35 days or so it gets lost? This is a great way to make a game that if you dont play for a month but still pay for the account, to just never come back.
Agreed. I think the real problem is SE is behind the curve. The game was initially to easy and people ate up the content to fast and SE is trying to get content out there with out having much time to think about it. That is the reason we are not seeing much real new content with he game either. Housing has great potential and so does allot of this game, SE just has to take control of it and get ahead of the curve. Everything just feels rushed. housing has to have some advantages other than something too look at. Crafting advantages, storage etc. The biggest is shared resources like choco stable. I mean it is in the game now use the housing dont let it be wasted.

For most part, the subdivision area feels like an alternate dimension accessible only via teleport. If you don't use the Aetherites, you literally can't enter nor leave. While you have some valid points, I don't think this is a good one. Even in the regular residential areas, unless your house happens to be really near the ferry/exit you're not gonna walk there. You're gonna take an Aetherite, and then walk from there. *agrees* Please look into this.

the true solution to this mess would be far beyond what SE could handle until they take all the pretty sub money and invest in some sorta super server just for housings. THEN i would like to see each ward have its own unique layout (nothing to crazy but something to make each ward feel apart from the others) and actually be connected like the three larger zones (north south east ward etc..) because from a continuity perspective a duplication of the same housing ward x8 is unrealistic. they could keep it to 8 wards so it could be broken up in N, NE, E, SE, and so on (totaling 8).
THEN after all of that they should integrate the subdivision into the normal wards giving us a whopping 60 plots in each zone, no SD's, but that of course would also take a complete redesign but would give them the change to add flavor to each zone.
HUGE dreams i know but it would be amazing if they could pull that off.
"Try not. Do or do not. There is no try."
I didn't know that about subdivisions. That's seriously.....dumb..
I'm sure it won't help, but for those on Balmung, my personal house (Ward 7 plot 5 Lavender Beds) has a star topped tree, and my FC house (plot 26, ward 2) has a sun topped tree
