Although you can have free space in your mailbox, that only seems to apply to letters from other users and there's a limit of how many "special" emails you can hold from SE - I hit this myself a little while ago. The fix was easy though, I just deleted some of the old SE messages (since you don't really need them any more), hit the refresh mail icon while viewing my mailbox and the new mail arrived within a minute (I can't remember if I had to close the mailbox and reopen it, but it was pretty quick either way).

Hope this is of some help to you too, but sorry if you already tried this!
Do the mails from the Veteran Rewards count as SE mails? I deleted a bunch of those.. But between those veteran rewards isn't a recent one though.. Thanks for the tip though!

Yes that's the ones, although if you've deleted some then you must be under the limit for SE special mails Sorry I really thought that would fix it, I just deleted all of my SquareEnix special mails and in came my new item, although I can appreciate you might not want to do that/keep some of them.

I've just read (on a blog post so this might not be the case!) that apparently there's a limit of 4 unopened items and once you have 4 mails that aren't read, it postpones deliveries of other mails. Like I said I have no idea if that's actually true, but if you have any unread mails, recommend reading them and seeing if it makes any difference?
