    When my auto-attack hits for ~45 and it doesn't even go off every time because I'm casting...I'm not even going to bother with the 3 DPS it's going to add, especially if there's already two melee and an off-tank crowding around the mob's behind.

    Meanwhile, my SMN with a Wave Codex (not even Tidal, just plain Wave) auto-attacks for ~75. Take that into a 10 minute fight where you'll get off somewhere over 60 or so instant cast spells, and that's, what, a free poison pot or more?
