    Copypasta is copypasta is copypasta is copypasta. It was even more apparent at launch when very few enemies were actually new models, though they have added a couple of new designs in updates. Dullahans, Ziz, Meracydia dragons, Titan and Leviathan models were created in the 1.0 days and were in the game files but weren't implemented until ARR so they don't really count as created for ARR, that leaves these mostly new enemy designs:

    At launch:
    Mindflayer (FF11 design), Svara Dragons of many colors, Hecatonchires and variations (FF11 design), Giants in Mor Dhona, Morbol seedlings (retextured minion), Maidservants and variations, Demon Wall, all Tonberries, Gaius' buddies, Magitek mounts (FF6 design), Iron Giants (Dullahan rig and animations), Magitek Claws, Ultima Weapon (FF7 design), ADS, Twintania (Meracydia dragon with a different head and tail), Hydra, Siren (small story fight, not properly fought until later), Ramuh (cutscene model, not fought until much later).

    Added in updates:
    Diabolos (FF8/11 design), Acheron, Scylla, Glasya, Amon, Xande (FF3 designs), Nanka, Mimics, Harpeias, Flying heads (modified Ahriman), those ghosts with a lot of faces in Tam Tara HM (FF11 design?), Cuca Fera, Girugavenus, Elbst, Symond the Unsinkable, Zu, zombies, drowned zombies and mummies (same animations), Goblin Magitek mech (modified Magitek mech), Goblin Tank, Kraken, Fenrir (FF11 design), Shiva, Yeti, Snow Golem (modified Golem), modified Cactuars, Vicegerent To The Warden (Batraal rig and animations), Karlabos (FF5 design), Captain Madison, Lamias (FF11 design), Avatar (Treant rig and animations), Nael, Imdugud (Coeurl rig and animations), Kaliya (Hydra rig and animations), Phoenix, Bahamut, Allagan PvP adds, two more ADS geometrical shapes.

    Oh pretty sure the Cobras and Death Gaze are from XII too. All imported models are exactly the same models, just with whatever shader ARR applies to make them look more like clay and smooth out the PS2 era textures, and also the respective water shader, case in point the Pugil and Crabs. Maybe one day they'll replace them with original models though it's really doubtful, but hey if it doesn't bother you more power to you.

    Lighting can have a massive impact on how things look. Of course it wont get rid of the blocky textures on many items :S

    They don't. I saw the pic of the croc someone posted. Looks like a really low grade machine is running that when it was taken because my crocs don't look that bad on my PC. All of the models that are similar to ones used in XI are way more polished.

    To be fair....this entire Game was Copy-Pasta since 1.0

    If my memory serves me right. The XI team was behind the initial release...
    Yoshi & his team did not have the Money or time to 100% scrap the old game & rebuilt it brick by bloody brick. (They came damn close though if you ask me.)

    Let's go over what is Copied/Rehashed:

    1. Races:
    We are the XI races for better or for worse. Yes the races have been "updated" but we are quite literally rehashes of XI.
    During 1.0 it was even admitted that the reason for this was because they wanted players from XI to migrate over & feel "comfortable".

    2. The 3 City-States
    Not only is the concept of the City-States copied, but Limsa is a retooled & rearranged Bastok, Gridania is revised Windurst, and Ul'Dah seems to pull A LOT from Aht Urhgan Whitegate.

    3. Beastmen
    As if XI wasn't enough. We once again had to be at war with Beastmen, and until ARR for no good legitimate reason.
    The beastmen themselves share the XI Beastmen skeletons.
    Amalj'aa - Orcs, Kobolds = Kobolds, Yagudo = Ixal & Sahagin, Tonberry = Tonberry, Goblin = Goblin, Mamool Ja = Mamool Ja.

    My point is...
    This game was ALREADY a copy of FFXI to begin with. ARR imo cut A LOT of the XI out of the game.
    The old monster models from previous FFs have been more like Easter Eggs than a bane on the game as far as I am concerned. Eorzea is like a bestiary of FF history.
