The MND icon indicates you represent the MND buff in a party, if I recall correctly. It's only useless when not in a light or full party as shown in the screenshot.

That's the thing though, the buff is always something your class can use. It's info that just doesn't need to be on screen. If you're a WHM, you don't need a big MND buff icon telling you that you're on WHM, because hopefully you'd already know. The rest of the group doesn't need to know either aside from SCH, but they don't need a display on screen to tell them that there's a WHM in the group.
It's not a buff. It represents which "roles" you have filled in the group.
WHM+SCH=MND
BRD+NIN=DEX
WAR+PLD=VIT
SCH=PIE
MNK+DRG=STR
It really is completely pointless and redundant
The stat displayed is buffed, any BLM that depends on SCH bonus would know this as well as anyone who has ever noticed they have more HP in a party.
So, why would they need a display when the very presence of the class on the list an inch or so below it is basically the same message?
