I had it in reverse. Maleficent IMO are way better than Frozen, and I don't even like Angelina Jolie as an actress. I would even choose Princess and the Frog or Tangled over Frozen. Frozen are just too... spears/lohan-like. Guess I'm not into teen-like movies, but that's just me. lol

Still, it's all about comparing the current ARR with XI. Back in XI, I actually like doing those Magian trials and the long-winded effort to get what I want/needed. Even the job emotes needs those trials too.

Take Odin horse for example. In it's current form, the only way to obtain them are cash shop. But I'm still hoping that the future content, namely the Odin trial that ppl tried in FanFest would reward the same thing, hopefully when this might get introduced in patch 2.5. I like the idea behind hard work than just "buy it as your only option".

And... when you need to purchase stuff with "real" money, I expect something "real" I can hold. I don't mean the literal "hold", but as something I know I really own it, not locked behind a renting service which is how I view this. Something I expect from a "shop".

I do understand when I first start playing MMO that I'm only renting the service so I can take pleasure in it, and realize that when in the future ARR would close it's door forever or I have to stop, then I would also need to "let it go" (borrowing the Frozen-pun).

Because it evolved and now players accept these kind of things that would never have happened or be accepted at that time.

Lastly, this is not about me able or not to purchase those cash-shop thingie, but about how it robbed the satisfaction of achieving through in-game hard works, in which was my original thought of following P2P plans.

What I'm getting at is, it's not hard. it's just a grind fest. Everybody is complaining about the grind fest. If you want these minions etc? Fine, don't grind, jus pay for em.
Also, if you really want to work hard and get stuff, there's still lots to do. Unless every one of your DoW/M is i130, you've cleared every Savage Coil, FcoB, every one of your DoH can synth 4*, all of your DoL can gather 3*, you are the top PvP Rank, you have completed your sightseeing log and the Greatest Journey never told. You've farmed the hell out of the hunts, gotten everything you can, capped your standing and purchased all of he items from ALL THREE Grand Companies.

And Finally, if you've done that and unlocked every achievement in the game? Guess what, now that you have earned the right to complain, you need to get over yourself and realise that you are the only person who has done all that. SE isn't going to cater their entire game (1.5M Subscribers? anyone? nvm doesn' matter) to one person.

A Lot of people are against cash shops b/c in most games it is poorly implemented.

A lot of people also raged about the XBox1 proposed system for DRM. Wait, they didn't propose it, they were trying o capitolize on the cash cow system Steam implemented. Every gamer I know has a Steam account. Apparently it's terrible and everybody hates it? Come on.

A Good example of a Cash Shop is PlanetSide 2. Yes, it is F2P, but it is also not "P2W." (Pay to Win) If you choose not to buy things from the cash shop, you really aren't impacted at all, other than you can see things that other people purchased in game.

It's not like in order to get your 5th Inventory Tab you need to pay $5. It really doesn't affect you, and no content is 'gated' through cash shop. Just take a deep breath, relax, and get over it.

Different times with a different generation. We're now in the facebook/mobile gaming era where buying for ingame stuff with money instead of earning them by playing is considered normal. Such a thought 7 years ago was outrageous but now you're called an old fart that can't keep up with the times.

On the flipside, Version 2 has finally (after a year) convinced me that the genre I joined about 15 years ago is dead. XIV V1 was the last flagship of it (a horribly, horribly broken flagship at that). Still, I'm 31 now. Probably shouldn't be playing games anyway. Cancelled sub last week, still 3 months of sub left, but no real desire to play any of it.

What about the magian trials or relic/mythic process in XI? It's way harder, but from what I see when I play XI, ppl enjoyed it. I do finished getting a level 99 -PDT axe for my beastmaster through magian trials, and I enjoyed it. I do also undergo several in-progress trials, though I had it on-hold since I don't have the power to play 2 MMO same time. ^^;

I agree on 1 thing tho, the current progression in ARR somewhat lacks variety.

Oh... and atma has been greatly nerfed. I finished farming a set only by few hours. lol

Think there's nowhere that said I'm referring to a high quality ones. Minions would be a fluffy-doll like which would be around same price, and depending on size and quality, you could get around that price for a like-like Odin horse with that price.

I'm sure this has been said a million times, but hell, i'll be 1,000,001. You should just go back to FFXI if you are so butt hurt on the direction FFXIV is going. Its still up, its still bringing content in, go have a blast.

Then again, FFXI -now- FFXIV players on these forums won't rest till the game is revamped and renamed to FFXI-2.

For 1.0, you need to consider that the whole 1.0 FF14 has been abandonned. ARR was a new start ans everything begun anew, except if you actually said that you wanted to keep your characters data (that was the point of the legacy campaign)
All of 1.0 is gone. However, this won't happen with 3.0 and onwards as they will be regular extensions and not resets. Unless the games fails again or shuts down for good, your datas will be here and you'll be free to stay in 2.0 forever if you choose so.

Oh ok. Well, the other game data did get deleted though, namely the maps. Items are still here for legacy reasons, but that's it
