How is SMN overall dps?

Anyone have any FCOB vids of BLM where they completely own the charts?

If a BLM completely owns the charts in final coil.. uhh, the melee either need tons of work or the BLM is a god. In T12 our numbers are padded largely if we flare the Blackfires and AoE the Bennu's...

Well, at least compared to SMN would be nice to see.

If we are talking classes played to their full potential? SMN is the second lowest, the only DPS lower is BRD.

A GOOD MNK/NIN/DRG/BLM should all beat SMN in DPS... but hey we have Traited Virus/Eye for an Eye and a Battlerez that kills our mana for the rest of the fight... Yay?

It's true, although generally I see another big gap between a good caster and a good melee. Caster should always be behind, I guess. But I don't know why but always as people gear up the melee seems to grow in DPS a lot more than casters do. Maybe I'm delusional

well, yes and no.. singletarget a smn is on that position, thats true. But every fight where u can dot boss + 1 add or maybe 2, a smn is one of the strongest ( levi ex).

if a smn would do the same singletargetdmg like others, he would be completly op in fights where u can multidot effectively.

Yeah, SMN is sort of king of Levi. Of course, applying the dots to the tail will hit you for damage, so your healer needs to be aware of that. Takes a bit of getting used to so you don't end up killing yourself, but once you've got it down your DPS will skyrocket.

On content that matters which is Coils the Summoner is the second lowest dps and it has no useful utility that warrants such poor dps. Bard has songs which restore TP, Mana and increase the dps of the party. Black Mage has Aetherial Manipulation, Apocatastis and Manawall which are useful . Summoner has battle resurrection which is useless in Coils because it's a dps loss on top of our already low damage and if a Summoner has to rez during Coils it's a wipe anyways.

Just curious. SMN used to be talked about as having the highest sustained DPS. At what point did it suddenly drop to being one of the lowest? I love the job and will continue to play this and NIN as my mains, but I'd like to know when SMN fell off the DPS mountain.
