I'm still enjoying my lifetime legacy discount. I dont mind throwing a couple more dollars to SE every now and then.

So im trying to figure out what all the rage and complaining is about. On the cash shop theres a few cheap minions, fantasia potions and a mount and some of the cheap Halloween items. extra retainers (no issue paying here! well worth it) No biggie.
ofc than i read about the eternal bonding plan costing something (Gold plan) which is pretty dumb and im a little surprised.
Guess what guys, Square Enix isnt just a bunch of gamers bringing fun to the community. They are a business out to make money as their number one priority and so is every other game developer whither we choose to believe it or not.
The few items on the cash shop is cheap and at a reasonable price for THOSE who choose to purchase it for extra items in game. You don't want it? Simply don't buy it, it is that simple.
People think, just because they pay a monthly subscription they are entitled to free this and that, their not. Everything costs Square Enix something one way or another.
The rub of it is, traditionally that's why people pay a subscription fee.
Apparantly some people seem to think the subscription fee is just a key that unlocks the door and everything ontop of that should cost extra.

Everything in this case being one mount (1), a couple of mini pets that do nothing, and some old event items. Woe is he who cannot have these game breaking items.
It's really tiring to repeat the same to people who never learned how to read.
The definition "game breaking" will depend on what aspect of the game you enjoy. I know this is extremely hard to believe for some, but people actually enjoy different parts of the game.
Yes, there are people who care about those silly mounts, minions, seasonal stuff, wedding, triple triad, gold saucer mini games, [insert anything that isn't gear progression].
Another person who doesn't pay much attention.
Honey, we are paying for content.

My company pays about $13k for 11 months of a service contract on a SEM. We get unlimited calls for them to come out. It does not mean that $13k covers replacement items or repaired items. I still need to pay for hose replacements (expected to need to be replaced), air valves, etc. I see no reason why a subscription fee -has- to include everything even when warranties and service contracts do not.
Because the terms literally state that the sub fee is "the key that unlocks the door" an everything else is up to SE's discretion. You can't play XIV unless you click: "I agree/I Accept." You don't even own your character, which is why you can't do much if SE decides to uphold the "we can get rid of your character/account whenever we want if deemed fit" because you agreed to it. They likely won't (very few companies do) but largely you pay a sub fee to access the game just like you pay a monthly fee to access the internet and everything else after you gain access is up to x company(ies.)

Actually yes. We pay the game, the subscription and the coming expansion. We are entitled to EVERYTHING in the game. SE revenue is going everywhere but the game development, so please stop this "sad tale of the business companies".
