My Problem with RNG (As do we all)

Erm, if you're 46. Couldn't you just have used steady hand+standard touch+standard touch+ great strides+ standard touch? Or some variation of that?

I know I'm just a lvl 27 alchemist. But I am able to go to lower items (5-15) and either not use hasty touch, or just use it at the end to get a boost. I'm sure you can too.

Getting to to HQ I don't have a problem but my main problem is RNG. I can not begin to tell you the amount of Steady touch I tried but it's failed. Great strides to be fair I have been giving it the cold shoulder so I'll try that next thanks \o

Hasty touch and steady hand 2 make hq-ing things a lot easier. I had problems hq-ing things too until I put both of these cross class traits on my crafters.

Yeah the only other 2 class I have past 15 craft wise ARM LV30 and BLS *26ish.

but the main thing I'm complaining about is the RNG is the same regardless of your skill in crafting a lower level item.

Standard Touch won't fail if you have Steady Hand on. Steady Hand = +20% success. Standard Touch = 80% success. It seems this is a pure addition (not a percentaged addition like 20% of 80%), so it becomes 100%. Be sure not to confuse it with Basic Touch which only has 70% so you'd still have a 10% failure rate (which in ff14 RNG is more like a 40% failure rate).

For example my husband asked me to make him something today. A level 20 item that required me to first make a lvl 15 item (it's on armorer but the principles don't change). I'm lvl 28, with lvl 24 gear.

The item has 70 durability and it takes me 2 synths to craft. That means I have 50 durability (without master's mend) to get HQ if I'm trying to avoid hasty touch.
My rotation for it was Inner Quiet, Steady Hand, Standard Touchx4, Steady Hand, Great Strides, Standard Touch, careful synthx2. Gave me 100% HQ each time.

Did essentially the same thing for the original item I was supposed to craft (though I did have a boost since all the lvl15 items were HQ, and I needed 3 synths, so I had to remove one of the Standard Touches) and 100% HQ again.

Not a single Hasty touch was spared . Hasty touch does have its uses, but I try to avoid it if I can.

The RNG does suck though, I'll agree with that. But there are definitely ways around it when doing lower level crafts.

Getting everything to 15 for cross class skills is a great help in eliminating the RNG.

Better yet, get all the crafts to 50, and you definitely won't have to worry about RNG. Higher level skills = less inconvenience.

Every class at 50 is still LOTS of RNG. Please go read one of the threads about crafting your Mastery Book II items

4* Recipes with NQ mats are pretty brutal. Fortunately, most of the gear has multiple 1* Mats that are easy to HQ, which makes HQ'ing the gear incredibly easy.

4* with all NQ mats is easier than 3* with all NQ mats was.

That is true. However, I think the OP is referring to attempting to HQ a low to mid rank Ixal recipe, with no level 50 skills. Given the options available to us, the problem is easily remedied.

Your 4* woes are a totally different behemoth.
