The letter was pretty short and didn't go very deeply into any topic. It does at least acknowledge that they're paying attention to feedback and, in some context, agree that some things will likely be tweaked (the "overboard" statement).

Interesting bit he dropped about the dungeon. I don't think he's talking about the additional chests.. There's nothing exactly "secret" about those at this point that would need pointing out. I'm gonna guess that there's some other kinda secret or trick in there that people haven't figured out yet. Would be very much in line with a FF game, to be sure.

Although I suppose he could be talking about that "secret" boss that was discovered early on... though I'm sure it's been known that people have already found it.

It was a bit of a non-letter, I'd have rather waited an extra day or two and have him actually say what they might address in 1.18a. At any rate, at least he is communicating quickly which is what a lot of people have asked for, more transparency and all.

I am excited to hear about plans for 1.19 now!

Transparency doesn't just mean words on a page, cloaked in PR speak. Tanaka might not have spoken to you at all, but at this rate it doesn't mean he actually said any less.
