Have you been raiding with SMNs in 2.4? FCoB is full of long fights with no real breaks. This is leaving SMN completely mana starved half way through the fight. This leaves us with a couple options. We can either simplify our rotations (cutting out ruin II weaving between GCDs etc.) which in turn is going to lower their DPS. Or we can blow all of our aetherflow charges on energy drain significantly reducing our DPS. Optimal SMN DPS is not MP efficient. 2.4 caster gear is horrendous for SMN. BLM is better in almost every way this patch. The main argument I've seen for SMN having lower DPS is having access to battle rez. This is a very good utility ability but imo it's very overrated. Sure it can save a wipe, but once you have a fight down people really shouldn't be dying anyways.

Just terminology carryover from many other games where the term resurrection is used in it's place.

It's to stick it to paladins that my be lurking in the dps forums, that even though they can raise, they can't raise during battle.
