You're lack of MP management then, just don't spam Ruin II too much. Use only Ruin I if nothing urgent. Also its much better to spend those Aetherflow for Fester than Energy Drain (for me, I use it after I raise someone).

All the new turns are effectively as bad or worse than T8 in the MP department. It goes beyond not spamming R2.
Oh look, one of these threads again.
It's the class I see the least in dungeons.
Glad I left it, having a lot more fun as Warrior
Summoner seems fine to me. Other than Tri disaster being ass in a can I have no complaints.
Oh hey nothing was here
wrong, ever done T8 or FCoB? MP issues hold SMN back from maximizing their damage
This is true. In FCoB, except possibly T11, you NEED Ballad as SMN to compete with a BLM. Considering T10-12 do not require Ballad for healers except during progression, it becomes an issue of Army's or Foe's, with Ballad being by far the least helpful song to the raid just to sing for SMN.
Any time you could sing Ballad for SMN (assuming healers don't need it also), you could be singing Foe's for BLM/SCH and make the difference that much stronger.
If you aren't owning things on SMN and are running out of MP midfight, you are doing it wrong >.>;
My hubbies summoner tends to out DPS most other DPS when he plays it since he makes full use of his dots and manually controls his pet. With all the dots on a monster he is easily able to chew it down very quickly, add to that the ability to bane monsters and spread the damage to nearby foes, and its almost broken. Knowing when to use your Aetherflow abilities (Fester, etc) and when to recast Aetherflow is a crucial part of understanding how to effectively play Summoner.
Playing Summoner effectively requires you to manually use your pet and manage your MP effectively. You cant just half-arse it.
