I feel like my eyes are bleeding from trying to pick a shot. So not satisfied... x_x But the one I picked will have to do, because my nerves are in tatters from trying to get a picture I could use.


Congratulations Lowena! Yours was one of my favourites. (My absolute favourite, however, was Ariel ♥) I'm sorry to see you go, Sangriah! Adam is still in - right? With so many strong ones in round 2, I can imagine the judges had a really rough time. But this is how it should be!


Oooo, I can talk about my round 2 shoot now!

With my blue skintone, there were two options I was considering: Mystique and Smurfette. So if I hadn't had such a strong flash of inspiration from seeing the bridesmaid's dress, there could have been two Mystiques

The first problem was the hat, but with a bit of help from Eorzea's most adorable crafter, I got one that worked. Next was location. I knew there were large mushrooms, and I knew I wanted to play with perspectives, so the trick was finding mushrooms that had a hill or something elevated that was close enough to make sure I wouldn't be too small in the picture.

Found the place and got a friend to play Gargamel, working out angles and distances. Then it was a matter of waiting for weather and light... Weather was kind the first time around, but I found that the ONLY time that I would have sunlight on my face was for a few seconds at 8.30am and 9.17am - the rest of the day the spot was in constant shadow.

The second morning it was raining, so I had to keep standing there for another Eorzean day, or risk not being able to find the same angles again. That was a test of will and patience, hearing my friends go about their adventures and not being able to join in XD The third morning I got my sunny weather back, and I managed to snag a few more!

I couldn't ask my Gargamel to wait as long as me, so I only called her back when the weather watcher promised good weather (sooo glad they added that), and she returned with plenty of time to spare in order to be able to afk for a while... And parked right in the middle of my screen

I could have gone with the first good screenshot I got, but I liked the idea of a ring on Gargamel's hand to add a bit more detail, and the light on the dress in the first one was a bit glaring:

The looming shadow in the one I picked felt like it added more to the mood:

Also, thanks for all the feedback! I really appreciate the judges taking the time to give open critique, and it's very interesting hearing the reasoning behind the other voters.

Even if cosplay isn't my forte, and I fretted so much about outfit and was yet again really last minute, I had a lot of fun with the theme. The end result made me really happy that I applied to join ♥
