I assume, however, that the loser between the two Tias would end up be dead (duel to the death, or killed along the father to eliminate competition and become leader by default) or exiled. Perhaps kept as Tia, depending on the character of the new leader.

Pretty much the same way a new mayor would not change everything about how a city is run, but some might, I'm certain that Mi'qotes aren't more or less likely to act like jerks -- Just like Hyurs or other species, it's all up to the individual.
I didn't think of killing all the children and women, more like forcing them to leave :S Maybe when they're old enough, then they have to go?
If I want to publish my texts on the Lodestone, then I think I will have to ask again. Just to be sure. At the moment I more want to write them for myself and my FC (if they're interested xD)
