Seriously, it's great to provide incentive to bring more subs to the game, but the fact is that while these free login weekends probably do bring some new subs, they also cause unbridled pain and suffering to the players who are already paying for the game.

It'd be cool if they could do something for the current subscribers on these weekends as a sort of "sorry for the lagfest", just sayin'!

You and I are on the same server and yet I had zero lag. Also it's pretty sad if you, the OP, (even if it was a joke or exaggeration), compare lag to "pain and suffering". Until you know what actual pain and suffering is, you don't have the right to say lag caused you it.

Firstly, who are you to presume whether I have experienced and/or know what pain and suffering is? You don't know me.
Second, good for you and having no lag, this isn't the case for all though. Many of us have limited play time, and we'd rather not spend half of it stuck in the void of zone loading screens.

LOL. I read it. I thought is certainly worth repeating. Promotional efforts by SE are more than worth the attitudes of some who think their game play is more important than maintaining a healthy membership. No subs no game. And personally I felt no difference whatsoever in my lag.

With all the Northeast US packet loss issues in the past and also being on a server equal in population. I've never been "stuck in the void of zone loading screens". In game lag was an issue in the past for me, but it had nothing to do with loading zones. Most ppl with loading screen delay is typically their hardware.

OP, do you have a SSD? Loading time is more of a hardware issue, having FFXIV on a SSD plays a big role in loading time improvement (even if the zone is crowded) while other hardware helps a bit.
