OP, do you have a SSD? Loading time is more of a hardware issue, having FFXIV on a SSD plays a big role in loading time improvement (even if the zone is crowded) while other hardware helps a bit.

Both my fiancée and I have pretty good systems, however hers is more current than mine and she still gets the same problems, which are amplified during peak hours or free login weekends. Although I'm sure there's merit in what you're saying, I really don't think this a client-side hardware issue.With all the Northeast US packet loss issues in the past and also being on a server equal in population. I've never been "stuck in the void of zone loading screens". In game lag was an issue in the past for me, but it had nothing to do with loading zones. Most ppl with loading screen delay is typically their hardware.
Hmmm... No SSD, but I was thinking of getting one when I upgrade my system next. If it'll make the game run better perhaps it's worth the investment, thanks for the tip!
