    I would skip relic, I find it pretty useless and complete waste of time.

    Not having relic as a newer player means that you're completely at SE's mercy when they decide to give you crap secondaries on your tome weapon. Relic will continue to be relevant for at least a couple more patches, probably culminating with i135 to bring it on par with the Dreadwyrm book prior to 3.0.
