I think the big issue is that it doesn't take much to have this problem. If you have over 1 mil gil and eventually plan to spend on an item or set of items, or if you have 1m+ and plan to server transfer, then you have the potential to wind up in a situation where this could effect you. Even if you don't have much, because 1m in this game really isn't all that much.

It's something that I do wish they'd up to at least 2 or 3 mil to give legit players a little more wiggle room. 1m is an insanely low cap, even though I can understand why they set it up that way.

How can this even be a real problem? Put the item on the MB for your gazillion gil and have the buyer go get it off the MB. Be in the right city and there is not even any tax issues. It is not like anyone would try to steal the item off the MB for gazillion gil, and if they do the seller doesn't lose, still go the gazillions. The buyer might be bummed, but they didn't lose their gil. Done and done.

There are 2 taxes on the MB - one for the buyer if not in home nation, and one for the seller no matter what.

It is a real problem when the flat material cost for the new i110 items is up to 2m. Just because you're poor as dirt doesn't mean plenty of other people have figured out how to make gil and deal with this inconvenience every day.

I might just see about using the company chest to do gil transfers now since there is no limit on that, but that's only a solution for inside the FC or between your own characters (if they are in the same FC).

Honestly, it's probably just as much that it's a gil sink, i.e. not wanting people to circumvent MB fees.

    This.

If we use MB then the 5% seller tax would be passed on to the buyer. A full set of IL110 gear would cost over 10m, and 5% of 10m itself is half a million. You realize how much gil is saved?

And of course, carry sales. Like it or not, it is not prohibited by the game, so again this transaction is legit. The amount transacted are in tens to hundreds million gil...

I thought the 1 million limit was sensible when the game was launched. Most players hit 50 with 250k or so I think. Even then the 1 million limit is a bit low, but at the time new gil came overwhelmingly from non repeatable quests and enemies in dungeons didn't drop gil (though chests had tin and maybe bronze allagan coins). With the amount of gil that they've pumped into the system these limits are absurdly low.

I dabble in crafting and gathering (have a single forager tool/ hat and no artisan items) and do almost no spirit bonding or other specific money making endeavors, but I've managed to buy a small house and have 4 million or so gil (and at least another 2-3 million in materials). The point is, anyone actually trying to craft seriously (or run a merc service/ what have you) will come up against these limits all the time.

I'm not suggesting that these limits be completely abolished outright, but it could easily be a veteran perk that RMT 'players' would never reach.

I agree that the million trade limit wasn't as big of a deal at 2.0 launch as it was now, and I agree that since they have been pumping gil into the system it makes sense for them to raise the cap.

I would also be open to some kind of requirement per player that would allow them to exceed this cap. Although finding something that legit players could easily obtain while RMT couldn't may be tough. I would recommend days subbed, but all the bots I see on a regular basis don't seem to be getting banned at all
