But you see a few hours ahead or back would not effect the vast majority. Just the people that are always effect by the exact same time, time after time again.

The schedule is 4pm-7pm JST, it cuts into a lot of prime time for the JP userbase too(as well as everyone else from that timezone). It is during a time when NA is sleeping and they get up around the time the servers are up.would be nice if they moved schedule back or forth a bit, instead of having it at exact same time, every time. Even just an hour or two either way would be nice, yes people would still complain it's cutting into their play time, but at least it wouldn't be the same people every time.
I think the maintenance times highly favour NA players and if they change the times they will get the rest of the NA playerbase whining on the forums.
hope it fixes shiva EX for PS3 players
Its not about the frequency of maints, but when they are. Its always the same time, so it always screws up the same people. Not hard to understand
What maintenance times? There is only one time, barring the handful that started an hour early. I'm sure people in japan that normally play at those hours are equally irritated by their normal play schedule being interrupted for every maintenance, emergency or otherwise. The schedule is 4pm-7pm JST, it cuts into a lot of prime time for the JP userbase too(as well as everyone else from that timezone). They could easily push it back by 6 hours and still not affect that many people since it'd be starting at 10pm in japan, and 6am-2pm for NA/EU depending where in those areas you lived. Neither are high population times since people are usually getting ready for sleep (in japan) or getting up for or are at work (NA/EU) at those hours.
We aren't asking for the time to be permanently shifted, just for it not to affect the same people every single time.
If you remember, they did play around with the maintenance times. They used to happen during the JP day time so they accommodated to JP players and the English forums was again, NA players whining about maintenance times. What maintenance times? Well original at launch maintenance were 11 am pst and weekly reset were every Monday. So they listened.
I'm sure they picked those times since that when there's less people on on average. Still, I prefer it if it started 2am pst
Let me reiterate my earlier posts, we are not asking for maintenance time to be permanently shifted, just for it to not affect the same player base every time.
Yes, no matter what time they schedule it for, people will complain, that's inevitable. However it's gotten to the point that the week following an update, I'm making contingency plans for my nights since I know there will be an "emergency" maintenance that'll cut into a good portion of my playtime sometime during that week. I'd be perfectly fine with even a back and forth time schedule between two times, as long as it wasn't the exact same time for every single maintenance.
That would be difficult for them to do. They choose to do it at 4P.M. JST for a reason. Granted I don't know what that reason is and why it must be done at 4P.M. every time however it must be something to do with their work schedule. The Japanese people don't finish work strictly at 5:00 like we commonly do in North America. At the same time though, they have lives and they need to go out for drinks after work just like the rest of us. It's a fine line. I would like to know why they couldn't alternate maintenance every once in a while though. That would be nice to get a reply on that...I agree, constantly getting hit with eevery "Emergency Maintenance" is getting very grating. They really need to start alternating the start/end times for these as to not always hit the same group of people. It's seriously making me reconsider continuing to play this game. Also if it truly was an emergency they shouldn't be waiting til a specific time (being midnight pacific) to be pulling servers down to fix them. Find an issue? Take them down within a reasonable time frame (give a few hours notice) and fix and bring them back up.
All they would need to do is push it forward 2 to 3 hours and alternate and that would alleviate some of this annoyance.
If they did this, it would cut into the thousands of Japanese Salary workers playing times. These busy people only have the late hours to play the game and from what I understand from playing on the Japanese server and talking with these people, this is a considerable number of active subscribers in Japan. Final Fantasy is very big over there (as you should know.) Final Fantasy XIV is a huge hit over in Japan....They could easily push it back by 6 hours and still not affect that many people since it'd be starting at 10pm in japan, and 6am-2pm for NA/EU depending where in those areas you lived. Neither are high population times since people are usually getting ready for sleep (in japan) or getting up for or are at work (NA/EU) at those hours.

I was wondering why they didn't shift the times either. It sucks not being able to play because of my sleep schedule whenever there is a Hot Fix ( Which I know there is usually a lot of after big updates so not looking forward to that ). Not an EU player. NA... just another 3rd shifter.
