Let's be fair here. The price could have been $300 and there would be "like" those same "30 people with their Sleipnir mounts."

There are some people that will pay the high price to get their content first. TPTB will have had made their money, before they conveniently give into community demand, and lower the price for some special sale event. Then they'll make even more money.

Now, charging money for content that wasn't even 100 gil, in game, last year? Yeah, that's totally pointless. Me thinks they're just experimenting with that one (to see how many people are that willing to part with their money).

Uh, you realize some of us missed those events... right? If event items that I've missed aren't available in-game, and I want them enough, I'll spend a few bucks on 'em. Why not? There's no other way to get them.

Because how they decide to make their "few bucks" just might leave a bad taste with enough people. This is as much about politics and PR as it is about marketing.

They could have just as easily placed the same NPC, that sold the items for the same 47 gil a piece, and made their money elsewhere.

I think it's a decent deal if they were free the first year-round. Most MMOS *cough*WoW*cough* just recycle the same stuff every year and never add anything new. At leats this game gives us new stuff in every event for free yearly (which keeps things interesting for sure), and the option to buy stuff we missed if we so desire.

Uh, yeah. Brand new item designs on a yearly basis that are completely free if you don't miss the event. Not the same things recycled, which you seem to be implying.
