I agree mages did need to be nerfed as they were to powerful, but THM without AoE was a step to far in my opinionMages needed to be nerfed, shouldn't have unlimited mp or be able to solo everything in game xD Heck MP is still insanely easy to manage^^ people constantly complain about it but I'm glad FF isn't starting to turn into a mmo where you just mash same key over and over and auto win ... mind you these are the same people who complain you can't do 45 raid without arc or that ToTo is hard at 25 lmao (Insanely easy dungeon inc boss, glad the 45 actually has a challenge)
It's tough but this game was awful before patch 1.18. They are moving forward and fixing this game! Anyone that really enjoyed this game before are in the minority. You should have just waited for the changes before assuming this would benefit you. What's with the pandemic? Give them a chance to finish off their ideas.
Now I remember why I dont use these forums very much, all the damn trolls!!! instead of posting here about something way beyond your rank why dont you go spend more time playing the damn game first. High lvl NM's are near impossible since the patch because of emity. I enjoyed the game before and I still enjoy it now, just a little annoyed after I spent my time lvling to have it changed into somthing I didnt want to be. I know 1.19 is on the way but i cant help but think it is going to be another let down. sorry if my reply is a little harsh but until you have a r45 or higher class you are not gonna understand the point i am trying to make. lower lvl content is doing just fine.
Dont know what you mean without AoE cause I still spam Thunder and and other CON spells as needed. Never needed AoE on any THR spells. CON is the white mage. With a good chunk of Black mage mixed in. Makes sense to have more AoE able spells on the CON. THR spells behave differently. Anyway, use them both and all is good.
As far as gimping goes the mages did get gimped. We are NOT as powerful as we were. We were not as indestructible as you seem to think and now we are even less. From the sound of it some would rather that mages were debuffed into the 3rd class slaves they were in FFXI. Not on my watch. Mage should always be able to lay your Melee on its but when they get to cocky.

the problem right now is heal hate is > tanking skill hate. ive lost hate after using every voke II, disorent II, taunt II, and wardrums to a single heal before too. It needs to be tweaked a whole lot more. Trying to do the ogre fight, have to make sure I heal myself the first 1 or two times, even then after keeping up vokes and skills i end up loseing it to the heals that are needed, since I end up running out of MP eventually.

To me it just seems wrong that the tank has to do a healers job to tank...
'United we stand, Divided they fall'
Did the R45 dungeon and generating hate is really A LOT harder now.
You simply have to use additional actions to build up a decent amount of hate.
Bringing strong WS asap or using every hate skill you can think of or try to heal someone (can't really heal a player, if he has 100% HP) is absolutely necessary. Provoke, Taunt and the other things help, but don't guarantee anymore.
I don't know, if it is the best solution, but I know it was a HUGE step in the right direction.
Still, I would really like a "last-resort-close-call" provoke with a long recast timer.
Nothing is more horrible for a tank, if a fellow player is nearly dying and there is nothing you can do for him.
Stygian Spikes was not used I sespect? It has a very highly underated usefullness. One of our GLAs who is very experienced (played FFXI since launch) found that the best way to gain hate was for him to just cure someone. However, post patch he only has enough MP for 3 cures. War Drum, Warmonger, Provoke II, Disorient, etc do absolutely nothing.
I mention that he's very experienced just to emphasize that he knows the game and battle mechanics, it's just bad emnity control post patch.
Tham used to solo the notorious monsters .... It was overpowered. Just because you weren't able to do it doesn't mean the class had no serious flaws.Dont know what you mean without AoE cause I still spam Thunder and and other CON spells as needed. It was a better healer than CON because of its range, with its dots it could deal more damage, and it could heal better.
Con needed some loving, and it's better now, but enmity is still very broken.

yeah they need to fix the heal hate gain and adjust the mp all i think they need to do
Also allow shield skill points on quest rewards and leve quest
Slightly misleading OP statement. Some THM spells had aoe removed (sacrifice/siphon), not all. You can stil aoe dd and debuff spells. THM is now a weaker healer than CON, which I guess is a response to demand for class specialization. Tho, out of all the QQ on the forums, I do think broken enmity is pretty valid. I do hope this is just a temporary measure til later patches are introduced and not permanent.
