I don't know. I kind of agree with you in that I am a little tired of throw away gear, and I do want some danger in the open world.
The throw away gear is something I know I'm just going to have to put up with. And I'm fine with that. The danger, I do hope that's added at some point.
I miss the way XI used to be, but that time of gaming is over. Can either move on and enjoy what we have now, or haunt the forums and try to make a change, but that will go nowhere.
Even before XIV 1.0 came out, XI was already looking into faster ways to travel. They already took all the HNMs and made them force pop. The devs of XI realized that, that time of gaming was gone, and moved XI forward. If they hadn't, it probably would have shut down along with XIV 1.0.
But XIV 1.0 was made. And it was, in some ways, more punishing and time consuming that XI ever was. That isn't what the majority players want any more. So don't blame the devs for the way things are. They are paying attention to what the majority wants, to be successful. Yoshi is clearly very passionate about ARR and games in general, and he does listen to the fans so long as it stays in balance with what he has in mind. And so far, I'd say his direction is successful.
I'm just saying this is one of the worst communities I've played with. So, the D bag statement is true. but with any mmo theres always something.
That is true but who are the majority? If you look at demon souls a ton of people couldn't get into the game because of how brutal and hard it was, yet it turned around and won game of the year on multiple sites. There is a market out there for hard games, just, they don't make the most money, so the majority of people are where the money is. I remember a time when game developers made games because they loved games and made the games that they wanted to make. I mean, how many vampire masquerade: bloodlines have we seen? Tons of classics yet they all shifted away from taking chances to doing what makes the most.

wb Rokien, did you ever get your original character back?
You contribute to this community being bad and have since 1.0. Some legacy players STILL remember you for trolling forums and Uldah shout and you haven't even been playing. That says a lot to your contribution to this toxic community. And why have you chosen this game to be your victim? there are plenty of other MMOs out that "arent doing it right" you could be harassing. You don't play, you just wish it something it is not and will never be.
My scary story time was classic! Anyways, I'm never mean to anyone calling people names and stuff. Though, Duty Finder, from what I've found in various mmos is it makes it where you do not need to be kind because most likely or not your reputation does not matter in duty finder. Thus, you are able to get away with a lot more crap than you would inside your own server. So, no, I'm not the cause or nor do I contribute to the toxic community. You contribute to this community being bad and have since 1.0. Please before saying I'm a terrible person for voicing my opinion, get to know me a bit.![]()

OMG ROKIEN!!!
1. Content(instances)
I agree with the need for open world. It appears though that the 3.0 expansion has a heavier focus on this. Also, Yoshi did confirm in the recent Vegas dev panel that they will look to open lower level content dungeons to solo play in future. I hope he means that it will be open world with treasure chests/gathering etc alone being
instanced to the player, but there is no way to know.
2. Gear Progression
This is truly frustrating ... indeed. In FFXI, if i got that Kirins Osode, it was damn well going to be every bit as awesome 7 years later. Well, until they upped the cap but that's a whole nother thing. But really, when something stays the best, it provides to me a true incentive to actually go and get it. I don't ever bother doing any of the 'endgame' in this game because i know i can go get it more quickly later. I'm just still focusing on the original release dungeons and stuff to get my battle classes to 50. Despite that, it's not enough to make me quit the game. Only a Monolithsoft MMO could do that.
3. Mounts
Good point, but i'm gonna say meh to this one. More important issues at hand than having 30 different varieties of pony. The behemoth mount is kinda annoying.
4.Ps3
There's a reason why EVE is the only MMO to go over 10 years and still have an increasing subscriber base. It is by far the most hardcore and most true and complex and real MMO in existence and it constantly upgrades its graphics and structure to stay technologically relevant to today's standards. This is not EVE, but i love it any way. ... seriously, if you haven't tried EVE, you might enjoy it. ... it's just so hardcore that it is really kind of scary to get into. ... even if you're hardcore. lol
5. Expansion Pack
Gold Saucer?
6.Crafters
Yeah, this is really annoying. My number one grievance with this game is that. In their effort to appeal to the broader casual category, this game kills any opportunity to be all it can be. Every duty dungeon is exactly the same length. Cool systems to customization like the whole Materia system are mostly put to waste. It's frustrating... but i've made my peace. If i want that so bad, i should go play EVE.
7. P2P/F2P
I get it. I have my own things like this where you have to stand on principal.
Truth is FFXIV is like a woman i've married. She can beat my face in every day and i'll stay with her and never leave her... except for Monolith soft.
