The most obvious excuse is that development lacks and/or crystal tools (or dev tools) lacks. This is evident when other studios can throw out new gear in a fraction of the time.

Well if by 6 months they mean 6 months to create an entire complex set from which they can derive 3-6 lesser sets + recolors (as seen in the video), then that is a little more reasonable XD ... hopefully that is the case.
I guess this makes sense. They should have been more specific, in that case. They could have said, "At this time, with so much devoted to core mechanics, it takes us 6 months to pump out one armor set. Once we have the core mechanics squared away, we will be able to devote much more resources to designing new equipment."Wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to put a lot of people on the project especially not for the artwork and such, the core of the game is what is important for them to change to get this game into a ready state so they can actually begin to make money off of it instead of hemorrhaging cash.
But the way they said it makes it seem like that is the case regardless of where there resources are being spent.
And the argument that they are moving so slowly to not waste more money than they have to does not make much sense to me. Not many people are going to buy into the game if content comes at a snail pace at this point to warrant future purchases/subscriptions.
This is what worries me most. Are we playing a game with a broken engine? If that's the case, how will there ever be any hope?
Well it's not like they're doing them one set at a time.
Again, they should have been more specific. If that's the case, they should have said that it takes 6 months to create 10-20 new sets of armor. That would be much more acceptable, although I'd prefer 20 over 10. 6 months still feels too long even for 10.
I'm tired of recolored gear, I dont even want to do the dungeons because the rewards itself just look like crap imo. It's ridiculous that there are maybe 10 different sets of gear across all the classes and everything else is recolor or reskin from those. FFXIV has the least gear options I've seen since XI was released in 2002.
Wow, so much stupid in one thread. Impressive.
They can release new models every month if they wanted to, all they have to do is start preparing them six months in advance. The logic that they can't start working on new models before the old ones have been implemented is absurd. Not to mention the logic that only one set can be created at time.
The only limiting factor here is money, plain and simple. The schedule doesn't matter once they've gotten started.
I bet these modeller amateurs have to work with movable characters and having to make the equipment fit with every existing piece of equipment. Six months is a Godly speed for one modeller to finish one set of gear. They have more modellers of course, but also seven new models to work on. Seven new models even in a year... It's a lot for any game.
There are 17+ unique models as of today. No vanilla MMO has had much more than that, of the same quality. It's ridiculous that there are maybe 10 different sets of gear across all the classes and everything else is recolor or reskin from those.

One set of equipment is a vague term which could mean many things."it takes about 6 months to create one full set of equipment that maintains FFXIV's high standards of graphics."

Is this some kind of cruel joke, SE? Are you just mocking us with this statement?
I don't care what means you use to create equipment, 6 months is a ****ing joke and admitting this is an absolutely atrocious PR move if true...
One set of equipment could mean:
Sabotons, Greaves, Cuirass, Tassets, Helmets etc in all difference metals (tiers) and all different colours, with several different embellishments and decorations. So that is like 100 different items or more.
6 months for 100 or more items doesn't seem so bad.
666 post count. Please leave my thread, Satan! One set of equipment is a vague term which could mean many things.
