    6 months to create ONE equipment set!?

    Issue is they make the stuff in higher graphics then lower it down to fit in ffxiv. They have to work with the lame crystal tool which been giving them issue.

    But still 6month seem to much i think they mess up i think what they mean is something like 6weeks

    Try this...
    1) Conceptual design ( artist sketch on paper/ hand draw ) for all races = 3 weeks
    2) Model that concept design with simple wire frame/few texture for ALL RACES = 3-4 weeks
    3) Detailed sculpture for 3D model for all race = 2 months
    4) Texture creation and lightning = 2 Months ( can start after #3 finish for 1 month )
    5) Apply armor physic and touch up = 2 months

    I think it's reasonable timeframe for their design effort. I'm not sure what is the real development lifecycle for make new gear is but I'm sure for 1 things.... there are 8 races to make and that's why it take time a lot.

    Try imagine above work yourself before complain....

    It makes sense, and they said a new set not reskin an old one. on top of all the stuff Petdo listed above it takes time to balance all the character moves with the armor physics, this is really hard since everyone creates different characters of different size. that's why in a lot of MMO u can see pixels and stuff sticking out the characters neck, shoulder or hair pixels sticking out of helms.

    Probably a lot less time, because it's just filler as opposed to the proper sets. The black mage set we saw the concept of ages ago is in the .dats as of 1.18, and it looks pretty awesome.

    They said "new set" not the mod one lol
    I think modified set wont take this long, maybe 1 month max :P

    Im an artist 3-4 weeks to design one armor set is an insane luxury, I have done that in 1-2 days. though if i was doing it for work, id prolly take like 1 week or 10 days and tell them thats how long it takes, but a month? na thats crazy

    I still amaze everytime I try to zoom in to see my gear up close. It very very detailed and everything are perfect, both texture, lightning and physics.

    But yeah... It take tooo much time to develop something new.

    But you know, miqote model are share with hyur female. Also lalafell male and female might share some basic gear together ( need to check .dat lol ) .. Just wondering how they will add new races, maybe miqote male share model with hyur male or roegadyn male share with roegadyn female lol this might look fun
