Playing devil's advocate for a moment - There are times when you really do just need to break off, if only to do what can be done and/or show your team the way.

My last match with the Adders? I was in a B team that completely ignored the add spawns in the center and only wanted to take/take back the Allagan Markets.

Plenty of winning matches of mine, I adopted a hit and run tactic (that worked longer than expected) wherein I'd skip the Markets/Manors/Temple and go straight for the enemy outpost, THEN when they came running, flee (and if with my team, scatter) and regroup/steal the Allagan objectives.

Then of course there are the doomsayers who just want to give up and accept defeat. . . meanwhile I'm taking my 6th solo capture

All in all, I'm not condoning Lone Wolf tactics, but sometimes you've got to think outside the box. Who dares, wins.
