New big fish, with new conditions for big fish (oh god ahhh)

There's a new i80(?) rod, the Ironworks rod, which doesn't appear to show in any of the new craft lists unless I missed it, so is likely quest based like every other rod upgrade.

There's also new i60 slots for... body, hands, pants, and legs? They're crafted, so they'll probably want materia attached. ...oh and their recipes each use a mastercraft demimateria (although that might be much easier to get now that a crapload more stuff can be desynthed)

At least it seems that head and all accessories remain BiS, but oh god here comes the wallet pain again.

Is anyone else annoyed that they're adding yet another new rod? I only JUST got the Halcyon Supra and it's already being made obsolete, and I bet any money that the new rod will be even more removed from actual fishing as the Supra was.

The luminary rod in 1.0 needed over 26,000 fish to catch. I caught every single one and earned that rod.
The forager's rod needed those damned silver sovereigns. 34.5 hours later I'd caught them and earned that rod.
The halcyon supra needed 3 olgois. No problem, caught. It also needed between 2 and 5 million gil worth of stuff that has nothing to do with fishing. That pissed me off.

I bet 100,000 gil that the new rod won't require a single goddamn fish. It'll just be another situation of us needing to throw as much money as possible at it. And in three months, we can all look forward to having to do it again.

Nevermind how annoyed I am that the "new" big fish look to be, once again, pure RNG. Whatever happened to actually using your skill to catch fish?

Hey Yoshi-P, I seem to recall you saying that this new fishing of yours was supposed to be "non stressful." But hey, you know what? Having only 6 real life minutes to catch a fish that double mooches in a spot with a couple of interrupters and only bites during three types of weather is really stressful.

There's a huge list of gear in the patchnotes that will now be Desynthable, like the former Myth gear and I think even unweathered? Point being, out of the craploads of new things desynthable I suspect at least some of them will be discovered to be able to drop mastercraft, much like how a cheap source of Fieldcraft III was discovered in 2.38, I think it was.

As far as rods go, it was sort of to be expected. I'd be down for skipping the Supra, but I have a feeling whatever's required for the Ironworks rod isn't necessarily going to be any less absurd. (in before Halcyon Rod Zenith i90 in 2.5 that has to upgrade from the Supra)

On another note, it appears there's furnishings made using certain fish now (Megalodon and a couple others). Interesting.

There is a report that the Japanese notes say

Go Big or Go Home X - Item: Ironworks Fishing Rod

Probably means Supra or Gathering FC buff are required + all new gear fully melded for some of the new fish. This is going to get really expensive fast.

OK - check out the 1st post - I've updated the hypothetical list with the real data - some of it of course is missing but some can be 100% guesses. Can you help me discover the missing ones and match them with locations? Theories?
