To this day my FC still does the rott pass method. It's funny how many people beat it with us on their first try despite having never done it before. Really not that tough at all and soooooooooo much faster.
My point is simple though. As Tiggy mentioned, the changes to 1st Coil after release of 2nd were minor. I brought up Rot as it was an actual mechanic that many players bypassed via an exploit which was not originally intended and part of that fight.
Nice Ebola reference btw
People play how they want to play they found an alternate option to beat a boss beside the dance off it was really and honestly they need more alternate way imo. For me personnelly if people goes in that turn and say were doing rot method, I don't complain if the people want to do rage mode, I don't complain. I just play the game and treat it as such a game if we fail I give people more then enough time for to get practice in without going in my rage mode it unwarrented insults of they suck as a gamer blah blah.

So what. Poking fun a some DRG is just a red herring and irrelevant to the discussion of difficulty adjustment. They won't be the first to clear final coil. They depend on others for carry, their skill is having charisma and having other players willing to help, or somehow able to work the markets and get gil Who are you to judge that they are not good enough. And the cycle must continue, because SE need the continued subscription.
The challenge is always preserved by the having the latest content at hardest difficulty, e.g. final coil. The other stuff, BCOB, SCOB, get reduce difficulty so they are added to smoothly ramp the learning curve.
-------------------------
Players have themselves to blame for not using the dungeons to learn. The tools are there, but people need to make the active choice to use them. But it seems everyone is in a rush, so they will learn when they hit wall, when the learning curve spikes up. That is not a terrible thing either. Players with more experience just needs to be more patient and guide these people. But instead they want to exclude them and then turn around sell carries and promote RMT.

sadly the learning curve into the game is a mess up total.
i means the dungeon that are means to teach us stuff are joke... simply because the item we can get and the ilevel recquire for do this dungeon are simply too far of each other. when you see that the last dungeon was i70 when it was possible to get i90-110 quite easy with hunt... it was a joke! a very bad one!
There is no joke. Gear level never equal skill level or experience. That was never the case. This is the false assumption people get stuck on. You only know if a player has the skill and experience by playing with them. Wiping is part of the game experience, you should not expect to win every time.
This DRG had as much Charisma as a swarm of angry bees.Originally Posted by NyarukoW

And it's not really our style to take gil in exchange for a group, we would rather players be competent and not waste our time.
The issue was, she lied about her skill level/experience. (How charismatic)
Insulted our healer for not being able to insta-cap her and the tank after she kept getting blasted by a highly predictable AOE/Boss Heal move. (How charming)
Insulted our group's DPS for not pushing at 3 meteors (our 4 DPS averaged between 421-318. She averaged 119.)
Called our tank an idiot for not spinning the green golem to prevent her from getting clapped.
Showed up for this whole debacle wearing i98 gear, swearing up and down it was the absolute best build possible, and we just couldn't do basic math. (+5 Charisma)
There's only 3 seller groups on Coeurl, and we know them all.
None of them have sold to her, so her Gil talents (if any) aren't getting her anywhere.
I don't know how you ended up making nerfing/echo buffs responsible for that, all I got from that story is that people are hypocrites, that bad dragoon only managed to cross that wall due to people carrying her, and apparently the same people were trying to carry her again in T9, then why complain about her if you are the one letting her pass through content she's not capable of beating EVEN with the echo?Great story. Showcases the grim reality of what nerfing/echo buffs indirectly do for players who are just bad at this game - gives a false sense of progression and "being good." It's not even about being "elitist jerks." This falls on the responsibility of the specific bad player in question. Bad apples are just bad apples, it's as simple as that lol.
The echo is not letting "baddies" go through coils, it's run sellers and carriers the ones at fault here.
And this has to do with content difficulty adjustments on what level?
You could have gotten a troll or someone so full of themselves that they take everyone else for granted. Their behavior is no way related to why older content should be more accessible. You wish that they were still stuck behind T5 and to do so, you would put the rest of the 99% of the player base to be stuck there too? SE knows that is not a viable business plan nor is it good for the game nor is it fair. That person may not even ever done T6,T7, or T8 for all that matters. And you talk as if you are powerless, doesn't the party have the ability to remove troublemakers, or can't you guys vote kick or vote abandon? I am sure nothing stopped you guys form hurling verbal abuse in response.
Right now we are close to the eve of 2.4 release with final coil around the corner. In few days here, you will have your final coil and players like that will be stuck trying to get past T9. So your paths crossed yesterday, big whoopie doo. Have fun on the forum making fun of that unfortunate DRG encounter, it is just a red herring anecdote. It does NOT change the fact that there is no reason to treat the rest of the player base, or newer players and newbies with contempt and block everyone else. SE knows that making content more accessible is the right thing to do, both for the game and their profitability.

@OP
I was in the room when everyone booed, and it was the only point during the entire fanfest where I felt embarrassed to be in the company of the people there. It felt like a room full of petulant children. I was very happy that Mr. Gondai and Yoshida handled it so gracefully and erred on the side of humor.
