Well it turns out OP in this case meaning our famous rant author above:

OP is a coil seller on my server. Sells coil clears to other players for gil.

I don't feel that he has our "fun" or "enjoyment" in mind when he is complaining about "nerfing coil" only his wallet.

Readers of this thread, please keep this in mind. Many players who are against "nerfing" content are against it because it would hurt their income.

Wanting content difficulty restricted for your own financial gain is dirty and selfish. How dare you pretend you care about the community?

That is actually a rational reason to be against the content difficulty adjustments. The million dollar question here is whether if and how do they launder all that gil thru RMT?

Technically they aren't saying that you are RMT but just selling coil turns. So the nerf would hurt your "business" in game.

My two cents!
As someone here who is a casual player who still loves progression and such, I'm still against the coil nerf. I don't mind the echo buff but actually changing the fights to be easier is a little much for me. The higher average ilevel going through the instances should be enough.

I don't have a static but I still do endgame. I just do it slowly. I like knowing that I can do the content the same way that my friends have. It may not be as fast as them but who cares? Having the second binding on DF is awesome enough for me because I can do it with friends instead of the lock out.

I don't think coil should be nerfed at all to help less skilled players. They should just put in the time necessary. If they complain that they don't have the time for that, then why are you playing an MMO? They are time sinks.

If you sell clears you sell clears, big deal. I don't agree with such behavior, but SE and their GMs permit this. The question is what do you do with that gil. Buy houses on excalibur causing the shortage that caused all that grief for the people on Excalibur? Or you donated to the Apakullu emperor helping him get all those houses on excalibur? It is all speculation of coures, but we hear about all these issue on Excalibur. So we are just trying to connect the dots, perhaps we are missing a few.

This whole conversation is old. You all need to learn some history of online gaming (and some psychology of players as well). This is nothing but a rehash of the same tired old arguments that were by players when Trammel was released, and amazingly enough UO is STILL in service. (By the way, I don't think LFR hurt WoW much). In fact, this conversation started a long time ago when players of PvP MUDs started calling players of PvE MU* "Carebears". This conversation is also pointless. It's Square's game, they will decide what to do. If you don't like it, take your money and go play something else. Also, this is a video game, a form of recreation. People will not put the same level of effort into it as they would a job, school, or professional sport. The whole arguments calling people lazy are completely off the mark.

Having the nerfs game wide instead of just NA/EU data center or JP data center, is the best course of action.

However, has anyone considered that the nerfs weren't targeted at the NA/Eu community but had to be put in place game wide to be fair about it? I have read numerous times on these forums that the average jp player uses a console to game instead of a pc. I know alot of the coil groups use TS, Mumble and so forth to chat about strats and keep things announced so players know what's happening. I know console users can use a phone or a pc side the console to chat but that's not what happens most of the time. I play on all systems and don't feel I even need chat to complete a duty but I can't speak for everyone else. To each their own comfort level. I do think the ease of content is not always directed at one player base to be honest. Try to look at this from all sides.

I get the picture that some communities withing ffxiv need adjustments to content to make it clearable and that SE is making these adjustments on all communities to be fair about it. If they were to single out the JP community and nerf the content but not the NA/EU community people would complain about that too. It's hard to say but a losing battle no matter how you slice it.

To be fair though..you normally see NA/EU screaming for nerfs a lot quicker and more wide spread than you do JP players, so whether or not it was targeted at one playerbase or not only SE knows.
