Can we have Tanaka back now?

I for one greatly enjoy this iteration of the game and while not perfect by any means, I feel it is still one of the best put together MMO's in a good while.
Also, comments along the lines of "omg, I hate Yoshi-P, just replace him already" are very disrespectful. The man has worked his butt off to relaunch a failed game and in a very short time (mmo-wise). Making a mmo is a daunting task for most any developer and to rebuild one so quickly at this level of quality is a monumental task. I shudder to think of the amount of very late nights and lack of sleep or lack of pretty much everything Yoshi-P must have gone through to ship the game. I've done the 100+ hour workweeks to get a game out the door and let me tell you ... it sucks ... so so much, but many developers make sacrifices to their health, social and family lives, etc. to ship a game because they really care about it and their work.

If you have grievances with aspects of the game, please make them known but do so in a productive and respectful manner. Rude and disrespectful remarks just because you want something your way is uncalled for.

Okay, we learned our lesson, you can put Tanaka back in now!

Just because Tanaka was great in previous work, vanilla 1.0 was a nightmare. Not just on the player end but heavily on the Dev end.

It was explained perfectly at the Vegas FanFest Battle Team Panel why.

He had his creative freedom with this project and plenty of Dev time for a MMO when he was in control. 1.0 wasted a lot of time, money, and resources to make content. Required pulling staff from other SE projects familiar with Crystal Tools but not FFXIV design, coding, and battle elements.

So when you take:

Tanaka's Vision + Crystal Tools + poor upper management + everything above mentioned above = total recipe for disaster.

This is coming from someone that started with 1.0 Alpha and played til character saves were turned off. Why? I trusted the brand and changes Yoshi made in 1.0+ and a new engine was otw.

Jesus christ, almost none of the support for 1.0 was there when it was still active.
Why the sudden love for it now? It was a horrific error and Yoshi-P is the only reason that the FFXIV brand isn't currently lying in a smoldering ruin filled with the tears of the Tanaka's Ego and SE's coffers.

Hmm... Tanaka. I never did play 1.0, I was holding out for the PS3 Beta till Legacy happened, but I did do one thing that a curiously large number of people didn't do. I kept up with the game. Very few who played 1.0 actually enjoyed playing it. If it wasn't complaints about Surplus it was complaints about system requirements, or repeated landscapes, or player culling, or the gathering system, or many other things. Heck, when I was playing we had the chance to save 1.23 from the Void if we could maintain a population during December of the 2012. Few if any logged on. I think it's safe to say that if Tanaka were brought back that we'd see alot of these old system creep back in, which would not be a good thing.
