    Can we have Tanaka back now?

    Okay, we learned our lesson, you can put Tanaka back in now!

    But really, now I can say confidently that I liked the game much more and to where it was heading, during 1.0.

    IMO all it needed is UI upgrade, nothing else. True the maps were copy pasted, but also much larger.

    Give me 1.0 with manqotes, working UI (DF, PF etc) and done... I'm sure with a few content updates it'd be amazing!

    What do you guys think?

    We'll get larger zones in 3.0, airships, we've already toyed around with cannons, and we're still waiting for cake, but the cake is probably a lie.

    Not that I hate Tanaka, he did get set up with the bomb - on record did not want to release the game yet but was forced to. I miss some of the more mature elements of 1.0, but that isn't to say they can't be reimplemented (at least some, bikini snowmen tanks are kind of stuck with it now.. XD).

    Right... except Tanaka implemented none of the things you just mentioned as an improvement?

    1. Tanaka believed that despite the massive amount of feedbacks during alpha and beta, his game was ready to launch with things (intended or not) like, CNJ can self cure in town to lv50.
    2. He believed that there should be skills like Aegis Boon and others that were so powerful. When these skills are used/cross-classed properly, people can solo things that are meant to be group content. THMs could solo pretty much everything before the implementation of Dzemael Darkhold.
    3. He also believed leveling up crafting means repeating the same synth from start to finish. Example: Armorer basically make iron plates from mid 20s all the way to 50.
    4. He also thought that leveling should mean praying to RNG for skill ups instead of exp per mob.

    The list goes on, but I think you get the idea.

    I simply pointed out that all the things you mentioned as needed to make 1.0 amazing wasn't implemented by Tanaka.

    I like what Yoshida has done. I didn't do MMOs or FF before this, and no I do NOT want 1.0 or XI design decisions to ruin what is working great right now.

    Some people see the modern design as something that has ruined what was working great for the old style sandbox MMOs.
    It's all perspective.

    You forgot Surplus

    And yes, point 4.
    I don't know what they thought while they did it. It really punished you if you killed the enemy fast. Because of this, DoTs were called exp killers and players spammed their weakest skills on the enemy to get many hits on it before it die, so they could get good exp from it.
    Each hit had a chance to give you some exp and after the enemy died you got the exp you earned during the fight. but only from your hits. You didn't get exp from the hits of the party members.


    People who think the UI was the only problem never played 1.0 longer than day 1 or never left the starter city

    They may not have been the best ideas, but they were atleast ones that melted away from the cookie cutter plot. When I look at 1.x videos(I never got to try it) I see a lot of potential. Battles look impactful, progression could actually be felt, the graphics looked awesome(r). I still don't know why on that one. None of that potential made it through to 2.0. We have dreadful clipping, overly flashy abilities that have become bland and meaningless, and whatever gear progression you make it one month could equally be made by a newly 50 in the same.

    If they made a 1.0 server I think I would try it and never look back.
