Must have ANIMA first and foremost!!!
After that I would hope they look to ffvi before ffxii for ideas on primals

FF 12s main story was bad... but IMO the side quests and lore, the fighting, etc were all great in the game.
Uh, but Fenrir, Diabolos, and Siren are already in FFXIV as it is... What do you want them to do, just give them their own instanced boss fight? Wouldn't it be basically the same as what they already do?
As for which characters/monsters "don't really belong in Eorzea," how do you assess that? Eorzea did not exist before this game came out, it's not like it had an pre-established "lore" to it. What belongs in Eorzea is whatever Square Enix writes into it. For that matter, why do Fenrir, Diabolos and Siren "belong" in the game?
I wouldn't even say the main story was "bad" necessarily, but rather it did a poor job of making me care about what was happening. A lot of the conflict and important events felt distant and disconnected from what the main characters were doing. Many side characters were not developed enough, and this stuff about Rozarria comes in out of nowhere. I couldn't help but feel like if this were an old-school FF game, we'd actually be able to travel to that place.
But yeah, I love FFXII. The combat system was awesome, and to this day all these games that use AI-controlled NPC allies -- I wish I could program their actions via the Gambit system. My only real gripes with FFXII are:
1) Vaan
2) 100% of the gameplay is either combat or talking to people. And although that stuff is cool and all, where are the mini-games?
3) Secrets that are impossible to get without a guide, such as an ultimate weapon that is inaccessible if you happen to open some random treasure boxes at arbitrary points in the game

Ultima, Zalera, Chaos, and Exodus please!
I realize this is the official forum and everything, but try not to make everything a goddamned argument.Uh, but Fenrir, Diabolos, and Siren are already in FFXIV as it is... Well, the main issue is to HAVE AI-controlled NPC parties. FFX battle system was PERFECT, it was the apex of the ATB system IMHO. Why the need to change? It was because FFXII was made to look like a single-player MMORPG. It drew too many elements from the genre and it wanted to create the idea of you being part of a group of players, instead of being THE group of players, as it were on the previous ones.
That, the necessity to grind levels, the unimportant protagonist. All elements taken from MMOs, Minagawa himself admitted he wanted to do a game that felt like a MMO, since they were the craze at that time. That philosophy sunk the game rock bottom -_-
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH don't even get me started on that prick. Worst protagonist of a video game EVER.
I'd like to see them continue forward with the Belias story. Perhaps he is a primal of the Dynast-ish in XIV? Though it seems he is a combo of both dark and fire in XIV, which is hinted at in previous games, but his powers are mostly displayed as fire in the past.
Then we could go down the whole light-primals vs dark-primals which I believe, this story could travel down in XIV. I mean, the 12 freaking summoned via PRAYER AT CRYSTALS, SOMETHING LIGHT to attempt to contain Behemoth. Maybe Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan aren't so bad afterall, with the Ascians observing the fights in almost, humor, with their own agendas. In many past FF games, we've been led astray from the real truth in the end too many times. Just saying... The Ascians probably could have taken us at any point during just their "observations", don't you think???!

DON'T LISTEN TO ONDORES LIES!... I'M CAPTAIN BASCH!!!
I love them, would very much like them in the game.
ANd if you don't like XII you're probably a bad person and I don't want to talk to you anyway.
