Uh, but Fenrir, Diabolos, and Siren are already in FFXIV as it is... What do you want them to do, just give them their own instanced boss fight? Wouldn't it be basically the same as what they already do?

As for which characters/monsters "don't really belong in Eorzea," how do you assess that? Eorzea did not exist before this game came out, it's not like it had an pre-established "lore" to it. What belongs in Eorzea is whatever Square Enix writes into it. For that matter, why do Fenrir, Diabolos and Siren "belong" in the game?

I wouldn't even say the main story was "bad" necessarily, but rather it did a poor job of making me care about what was happening. A lot of the conflict and important events felt distant and disconnected from what the main characters were doing. Many side characters were not developed enough, and this stuff about Rozarria comes in out of nowhere. I couldn't help but feel like if this were an old-school FF game, we'd actually be able to travel to that place.
But yeah, I love FFXII. The combat system was awesome, and to this day all these games that use AI-controlled NPC allies -- I wish I could program their actions via the Gambit system. My only real gripes with FFXII are:
    1) Vaan
    2) 100% of the gameplay is either combat or talking to people. And although that stuff is cool and all, where are the mini-games?
    3) Secrets that are impossible to get without a guide, such as an ultimate weapon that is inaccessible if you happen to open some random treasure boxes at arbitrary points in the game
