Here's my issue with this-and I've seen this brought up elsewhere for other games as well - SE is a multi-million dollar company. Kickstarters (and the like) are for people/groups who DON'T already have the money and want to produce something. Why should I (in effect) donate money to SE (or any big-name company) to get something better out of my game? Which I'm already paying a monthly fee for btw. Even if they give me things (virtual things at that) for my money, it's still a multi-million dollar company asking for donations to do what they've already been doing for years and are already getting paid millions to do. And that doesn't sit well with me.
