People want to co-own because it reduces the burden of saving on an individual character and spreads it across 2 or more, and if i split the cost of a small house, why the hell shouldn't i be able to use the garden and stables it provides.

Also: Medium and Large plots should not be able to be owned by single individuals, they should be shared by multiple individuals and FC only.
Sorry, but that makes you oblivious to what the OP is saying. They want to share a home, period. It doesn't matter the cost or the size. People don't want to share just because they want to split costs, that's just an assumption you've made. Sharing is sharing. This could be solved by letting people set privileges for people on their friend list, for example.

Also, you've given no justification for people not being allowed to own their own large or medium sized homes, which makes sense, seeing as there is none.

Whoever said i was piggy backing off the OP?, its called a discussion topic for a reason, people put forth idea's and make others who are lessinformed become more so.

I stand by my stance: Medium and large houses should not be obtainable by individuals.

People don't want to share just because they want to split costs, that's just an assumption you've made. Sharing is sharing. This could be solved by letting people set privileges for people on their friend list, for example.
Sharing is sharing is not sharing. blahbydahblahblah.

The system you suggest would give one person full control over the estate, if said person had taken gil from any of the others to purchase said estate then all persons should be on the estate deed so control would never be fully in the hands of a singular persons, preventing them from screwing the other parties out of hard earned gil.
Also, you've given no justification for people not being allowed to own their own large or medium sized homes, which makes sense, seeing as there is none.
There are rules and regulations that come to mind regarding the distribution of living spaces in the real world when it comes to singular persons and small groups owning houses larger then they will ever need.

There is no need for a greedy lalafel, fat on his own extortions to own a mansion or house when fc's consisting of many peoples are already feeling the constraints of small cottages.

If the server is posing such a constraint on plot availability, then individuals should be limited in what they can obtain.

Confirmed in Fan Fest Live Letter, no current plans but considering it.

At least with your Eternal Bond Partner.

    As expected.

It really would be stupid not to open up permissions. Considering how there isn't enough housing to support the amount of players, you'd think it would be an obvious move to allow people to share personal houses-whether by co-ownership or just allowing access to your friends list.

Unless SE has some grander plan up their sleeve.... but then again it's SE.... so I'm not holding out much hope.

I think the reasoning for that was something along the lines of how when marriage happens, it's great. But that greatness starts to die down and things can possibly start to get nasty and, all of a sudden, one of you has permissions revoked and/or all of your stuff is gone.

...and they're trying to find a way that works for everyone so players don't suffer the consequences of marrying the psycho-spouse from hell, whichever gender that person may be.

well.... don't enter into an arrangement with someone unless you trust/know/like them. That's all I can say about that.

This' already a potential issue with FC Officers, it's nothing new.

As well, they could make it like a 'forced prenup' where items bound to an individual are only removable by that individual without consent.

If the B wants to pick up her shish & go, she can only take her own shish.

They've already stated they'll be implementing divorce too, so terms for the sale of the property can be set in the divorce papers lol.

Is this for real or are you just having a laugh?

If it's true, I don't know how it would work (specifically with property sale) because when you sell a house, you don't get profit, the funds you originally spent on the property are lost to the aether and unless you already have the funding for a new house, you are SOL.

They need to allow us to sell homes, it's silly we can't.

Hahaha. Knowing someone and thinking you know someone aren't exactly the same thing, though. Plus people change overtime. ^^
