The logic being used to defend this is staggering. By that right older games should be charging full price for every expansion they ever made, cause its not fair to the old players right? Yet they don't, why? Because its old and outdated content. They long made it and long finished in the game. Between 'Battle Chests' and GotY editions, new players get old content for dirt cheap. The very same content we all paid full price for.

Because the people that asked for it are the same people that are against the cash shop, right? Does that sound logic? Nope, as the ones that asked it where, most problably, the ones defending the cash shop now, period. also im not rly defending....im just bored atm....i will spending 0 money on the cash shop, why because its "OPTIONAL", i like collecting minions, ill get the minions that are ingame....when they put a "HAVE TO BUY" item on the shop..then yes that will be a problem

also ppl are acting like this will get new stuff every week...till its get implement and see the scope of things ppl should relax

You could spend a lifetime trying to get some of the rare rng items in this game. Time = money. Your buying it either way. This just gives people options.

Yeah, but you're tying in the Optional "Vanity stuff" as some of the direction of the game. It's not even close to the direction of the game. P2W stuff would be, but not Optional Vanity stuff.

All content is optional. Is it okay just because it's vanity then?

Such prices tend to initially be set based on willingness of people within a region to pay, based on market surveys and prior experience from consultants. For such figures to decrease, the solution is simple. Have people not pay for it till the prices are reduced.

However, many more players than the vocal minority currently objecting on these boards will be fine with the prices, purchase the items and maintain incentive for SE to keep pricing as is.

I for one, would like a game where everything was included in the subscription fee. That's the whole point of P2P.

To those arguing that these extras are needed to fund the game... FFXIV is already making mega-bucks for SE, this extra cash is just a cynical way of chiselling out yet more money from its playerbase.

As to the items themselves, whether they're vanity only or OMGWTFuberhaxBISwhiteboxprincess gear has absolutely no relevance to me, I could buy them all or none of them. It's the principle of it. I pay my subscription to play this game in its entirety, including the little seasonal mini-games for vanity gear, the odd little side-quests and the primals and coil. If I wanted to play a game where parts of it are behind a pay wall (no matter how few the parts or how low the wall) I - well, I'd never want that.

you guys saying this is gonna make you leave, please do, you pollute the fun community that drives this game. Take your "my game opened a store" problems to another game.

Call me old fashioned but I think any kind of game reward should be earned by playing the game.

Mounts and Minions would require either new content, new sidequests or new recipes to earn them.
Even if the new minions were just added as part of rewards for maps, that'd keep people doing it.
For those players that only log on tuesdays to raid - yeah, a cash shop is all good because it doesn't affect them.
But there are other types of players - and they're not few NOR lesser players for it.

That's the gripe I have.
We subscribers have payed them to make content. They in return want us to pay to access a % of that content.
Look at it this way - you give me 10$ to buy groceries and cook you a meal.
With your 10$, I make a wonderful dish that you can eat, but if you want the delicious dessert I made (still with the ingredients bought with your money) you have to pay more.
You'd probably punch me in the face and eat the dessert lol

The sad thing is we can't do a thing - we're impotent because SE always wins.
People will keep playing because it doesn't affect them, and some people will buy the new stuff and they'll make profit which will drive them to make more exclusive cashshop content.
We're being robbed of new content and we can't do a thing except express our sadness.
