SE is a company and it's products are made to make money/profit. This is a way for them to do it...get over it.

No. This is a cash grab and the game will suffer for it in the long run. Many older MMOs had no trouble sustaining themselves on monthly subscriptions and expansion sales so there's absolutely no reason why FFXIV cannot do the same. If you are the type of person who likes to stay with an MMO for longer than a year I guarantee you will notice the change in community and content and you will hate it.

Many older games are not around, nor even come close to the numbers that games which do have shops have. They also were cheaper to run, since they had smaller numbers. Optional services do nothing to change the community as they are available to everyone.

The same argument can be applied to the game itself, if you don't like the direction a subscription based game is heading towards, don't subscribe to that game, it's that simple. The cash shop is simply another questionable decision in the long line of other questionable decisions that eventually turned into big deal breakers for people, housing being one of the major concerns since it's addition to the game.

Wouldn't be surprised if they started pumping out cash shop stuff for housing either, I mean it's just cosmetic after all right, what's $30 for a guaranteed large plot. What about vanity relic skins so you can glamour any relic step into your Nexus and beyond, or the heavily request invisible weapons for Monks so you can punch with your fists only, that's just vanity too after all, get yours cheap today only $10 each.

Wat? The stuff going on vanity is more than likely a one time exclusive ingame for the holidays (IE, pumpkin masks). New stuff will be released next time. That's how this works.

Markin' the day as 10/19/14 for this prediction. (<.< ) I'd say upcoming endgame/FC content and battle changes would be more relevant to the future of the game than a halloween costume for five bucks, but hey, I'm wacky like that.

I can see your point. I hope this doesn't happen. This is my first MMO so I don't see the trend first hand as many others do from playing other MMO's.

Game developers work in teams. I know this is a new and exciting concept, but that is how it works. People doing dungeons are different from people making armor, who are different from people writing the story. More money into the game means more content. More content means more players.

All items except for one shown in live letter already exist in game, right? O.o Halloween costumes, fantasias?

Future minions or costumes will sometimes go to cash shop rather than in-game stuff. But really, where are they gonna put the inevitable Aeris dress in XIV's content?

We're not goin' to Midgar. o_O It'd be out of place in Coil. Cash shop seems fine.

And who knows, maybe it'll prevent too many people from dressing up like Sephiroth. That's a plus o.o
