Agreed. It's a very slippery slope. They may just try to sell dumb little conveniences such as extra inventory space, fantasia, or a free teleport crystal but chances are it will be glamour pieces. You might not think this is bad right now but in truth it's severely damaging to the game over time. With every glamour piece that is added to a cash shop it's 1 less added to a drop pool, crafting log or NPC vendor and that's 1 less bit of incentive you have to engage in that content. The direction of the game also tends to get greedy because players give in and buy everything. Eventually you have pieces of gear that look better than what you can earn by playing.

Really? This game offers so much, at least for me. From the runs with my FC, the laughs we have, the feeling of maxing out classes, to gaining certain goals, completing my sightseeing log to get a rare minion ( I can go on and on)
If buying a minion or a sword of the shop gives anyone a lack of incentive to play this game, or any MMO in my opinion...you need to play another game.
There will always be certain pieces of gear, or minions that you can only get in the game. The shop...at least for me, will never take away from that...how could it every replace the feeling of what I mentioned above?!

Whether or not you can afford it isn't the problem. The problem is that you are willing to hand over real money instead of fighting a boss or hiring a crafter for it. Once you start doing that the developers start producing slightly fewer bosses and crafting recipes. Over the next couple years (if you bothered to stick around that long) we missed out on several updates worth of content because the systems and resources to produce it went directly to the cash shop instead.
I am still waiting for a source on this popular P2P MMO that has a whole updates worth of items on the cash shop. Hell, WoW's numbers have even climbed since implementing more items into theirs, and adding it into the game.Whether or not you can afford it isn't the problem. How can we be sure though that we will loose out on the amount of in-game content, relative to what previous updates have bought us? Would they, for example, even be making the cash shop content if they did not know that they would make a profit from it?Whether or not you can afford it isn't the problem. That is not to say we will not loose out content etc, but I do think it is best to keep and open mind in these debates I find. Optimism and civil debating is something rather are on forums, I fear. The amount of fearmongering has actually taken me by surprise. With over ten years of MMO history under my belt though, I should really be used to it. Much of the debate seems to lay itself down to 'ifs' and 'buts'. The simple presence of anything remotely 'cash shop/F2P' causes some players to announce the games immediate death. It is like saying that catching a cold means you are going to die. A lot of this unrestrained anger and venom just seems so... unnecessary.
Oh, and forgive is the above paragraph offends or anything, I honestly do not mean to cause any hostility or prove anything. I am tiered, and these threads are giving me a fat chocobo sized headache...

Doesn't really matter at this point. Let them unsub, it doesn't change the fact that the shop is coming regardless and the hard headed that can't seem to get what an optional service is. People have larger problems if they are sitting her complaining over random vanity items that have no effect on anything in the game.
The game is 100% available to you. You can play it and all the content it has, no problem. Want the shiny mount now? Pay for it. There are more mounts in the game you can ride then the one in the shop. Again, optional.
As everyone else who has their head on straight has said, it's coming regardless. Speak with your money and unsub. We really don't care because, for the 15th time, it doesn't effect the game. You guys forget this is a business before it is a game. Reality sucks.
Wat? The stuff going on vanity is more than likely a one time exclusive ingame for the holidays (IE, pumpkin masks). New stuff will be released next time. That's how this works.

No. that's not how this works. people working on cash shop items are people not working on dungeons, crafting items, bosses, emotes, or other meaningful content. think critically about what's happening here.
