Geez, everyone is overreacting. I'm sure you won't find any better MMO. In past 15 years, about 15-16 mmos I've tested and play. This by far is better one not best.

DX11 has been coming since 2.0, they keep saying that it's 'getting there' or progressing, but there's no evidence that ANYTHING has been made of it yet. They haven't announced any sort of release date yet either, that's really ridiculous especially considering we are now at the first xpac.

I'm on the fence about the vanity items. Excluding the sleipnir mount arent they only selling past event items?

Regardless, its bad enough having to pay for 2 additional retainers, now crafters/gatheres must compete with not only rng but a cash shop that sell the item for less the $5. Vs the a million gil on MB

You are absolutely right about it destroying the crafting economy. The mini Y'shtola and other new scion minions are cash shop only. They are $5 each which means essentially $15 + maybe $20 for Sleipnir as an account mount.

and thats exactly why im so angry about this, i love this game and the last thing i wante to see is a cash shop. now i just can play it anymore because of this horrible practice.
i really hope they drop the cash shop. till then they are not gonna see any more money from me.

You are completely missing the point. The issue isn't that it's simple to "just not buy it", but the fact that from now on, potential content will be lost to the cash shop just so SE can make an extra few dollars off of you every pay day.

This is where voicing your opinion comes in. The angry mob is the loudest, everyone that feels this way should speak up in fact in encourage it. When they hear everyones complaints they will most likely get rid of it.

Again, stopping your sub does not resolve the situation. However, you are still entitled to drop it if you see fit. Yoshi-P won't know why you did, but you can still do just that. ( Voicing your concerns and not suckering into buy those vanity items will remedy the situation.)

Edit: PS: As long as these items are obtainable in game in some way or fashion, then I don't care if they have a cash shop. If they are not, and you can only get them through paying real money for it, then I don't like that either.

I'm seriously disappointed with the cash shop, even as a 1.0 player that has always supported the game.
They started with a good idea, selling services and items you can no longer obtain, like limited event items. That's reasonable.

But in my opinion, P2P games shouldn't have cash shops - all content should be able to be accessed by anyone, because they're already funding the game by subscribing.
And I feel the same way about bonus items being given away at events and soundtracks, but I can live with that since I get a cool soundtrack or art book I can listen to.

However, cash shops are just wrong. Mainly because at some point in development, the team came to Yoshi and said:
"hey we got these 3 cute minions and this awesome mount ready. Where should we put it?"
And he chose to sell them, instead of putting them in-game. He chose to strip content from the game to sell an item.
And you can think "vanity isn't content". Well, there had to be lore on those item descriptions and in the minion/mount guides.
Probably even a quest with more odin story to get sleipnir, or just a reason to give us the Urth's Fount trial in-game.
Now we have to pay again for that lore - for that content.

Just because another P2P MMO has a cash shop, it's not a reason for us to accept that.
At the same time, I know we cannot change or stop it...

I love FFXIV for the story and the content and the people I play with - but also love to collect the items, so I'm seriously heartbroken.
I can't bring myself to unsub, and I'll probably end up paying for the items.. but it makes me sad.
Makes me sad to think people that enjoy these things like me won't have the same opportunities as I have even though they're also paying monthly.
Makes me sad to think what other awesome things they'll put cash-only next. Furniture? Costumes? Dyes? Gold Saucer coins? Triple Triad card packages?
It's just.. sad.

I have every bit of confidence in Yoshi P's reasoning ability to figure out why people unsubbed the day a cash shop was announced.

Just something I don't see being considered here; Since SE are selling previous patch minions through this, what's to say that the Sleipnir mount isn't just a rare drop from Odin as well? Say, if the cash shop came out earlier it would be either grind for Nightmare or just buy it. I personally don't see why just because the Odin mount is in the cash shop that it can't be in the game as well, do they honestly have to be mutually exclusive?

My thoughts exactly. Once they ease the bulk of folks into the cash shop system they'll be able to start expanding it into other fields with minimal backlash. Maybe it'd be easier for folks to take if they got a few bucks shaved off of their monthly sub fee but I kinda doubt that SE will be doing that for us.

Also the folks calling others "greedy" for NOT supporting SE in this move while letting SE completely off the hook are very confusing people haha.

None of the minions are ingame or from previous patches. They are new.

Diablo III Lethargy: Why put the work and effort into learning a fight, why run it 50x for the chance of a rare drop when you can put down $10-20 and get it instantly? In fact, the more times you run Odin, you'll find that the trial is exhausting and if you are unlucky for so long, you'll eventually put the money down.
